Dubble D Delivers Debut Album
‘Reachin Out’ shows the coming of age of an artist who has grafted as a drummer since he was old enough to hold a pair of sticks.
Dubble D (aka Danny Ward) kicks off the first of five new 20:20 artist albums set to be released in 2005 and it’s safe to say the bar is set way up high with this truly timeless debut, which can be appreciated by anyone with a feel and love of a diversity of music.
In the last 10 years 20:20 Vision has become renowned as a purveyor of the finest 12” vinyl. But having worked hard to dig out a wealth of fresh, young talent queuing up with material, the 20:20 team have been able to make top quality albums a regular fixture in their schedule.
The man who starts the albums flowing is Manchester-based artist Dubble D, who expresses his love for diversity and a desire to cross both age and culture on 'Reachin’ Out'. It glides effortlessly across musical genres, bringing together jazz, house, hip hop, reggae and soul, to create a perfectly balanced album rooted firmly in the song-writing tradition.
Having forged a successful career as both a working drummer and producer, Dubble D’s talent has developed to such an extent that some of the world’s most respected artists have signed up to collaborate with him, from Grammy-nominated jazz singer Flora Purim to NYC hip hop producers Q-Ball and Curt Cazal and soulful beat scientists Nightmares on Wax.
This album has the makings of a timeless classic for your collection, which should be filed alongside the likes of Mr Scruff, Jazzanova and Nightmares on Wax.
