Miami, FL – March 4, 2005 – As the sun sets over downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park and the world’s best DJs continuously spin the best electronic music from 11 am – 12 am, MOBY will headline the main stage at Ultra Music Festival 7 while introducing his new album ‘Hotel’. Ultra Music Festival 7 will serve as the official closing ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the Winter Music Festival on Saturday, March 26.
One of the most diverse musicians to make a name for himself in the last 15-years, MOBY continues to push the boundaries and make music on his terms as he takes his fans on one of the most unique journeys with his legendary sounds. As the headlining performer at Ultra Music Festival 7, MOBY will seize the stage with his live six-piece band for the first time in over two years. Celebrating the release of his latest album ‘Hotel’ on V2 records on March 22, MOBY certainly continues his tradition of making beautifully eclectic records.
MOBY continues to evolve as an artist as he has made dance, rock, heavy metal and ambient records as well as writing classical music for movies. He has a passion for music and sounds that continue to amaze fans all around the world, allowing him to have platinum albums in almost every country in the western world. MOBY is an accomplished producer and re-mixer and has worked with David Bowie, Metallica, Beastie Boys, Aerosmith and New Order. He has sung duets with some of the most accomplished musicians such as Elton John, Bono, Michael Stipe, Lou Reed and many others.
Having performed all over the world, MOBY has DJed in small clubs and has headlined Glastonbury for 125,000 people. Playing punk rock music in tiny bars in Germany to performing for an audience of 2 billion people for the closing ceremonies of the Olympics, MOBY has without a doubt had one of the strangest careers in contemporary music.
MOBY’s first solo release ‘Go’ was released in 1991 and Rolling Stones’ named it one of the top 200 records of all times. With his major success and ability to create sounds for the masses, he has continuously made music by his own terms. MOBY still records all of his music in his bedroom and has always played every instrument on every album, except for the live drums and still does all the production.
His new album, ‘Hotel’ provides listeners with many various forms of music. Ranging from quiet instrumentals (‘Hotel Intro’ and ‘Homeward Angel’) to anthems (‘Spiders’ and ‘Lift Me Up’), to uplifting elctro-disco (‘Very’) to ballads (‘Forever’). MOBY sings on almost every song on this album. Whereas MOBY’s past records have relied heavily on samples, this record is actually completely sample-free.
MOBY will headline Ultra Music Festival 2005 as other great acts such as, PAUL VAN DYK, TIESTO, Crystal Method, CARL COX, PAUL OAKENFOLD, DANNY TENAGLIA, ERICK MORILLO, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, FERRY CORSTEN, STEVE LAWLER, DANNY HOWELLS, JUNKIE XL, PETE TONG, RABBIT IN THE MOON, TIMO MAAS and numerous others command the stages throughout the Bayfront Park & Ampitheater.
