The renowned German dance label Peppermint Jam is breeding another potential star, Torsten Seidel aka Torso.

Torso, who fits in very well with the labels strong DJ/producer roster (Mousse T, Can 7,Boris Dlugosch and Michi Lange), has almost 10 years of DJ experience and a very broad musical background. From behind the decks Torso has the ability to rock any dance floor as he has a high sensitivity for anything groovy. In true Peppermint Jam tradition Torso has started to work as a producer/ remixer, and the first results of this show the same impact on vinyl as on the dance floor.

Torso, aged 27, began djing professionally at the same time he started working for Peppermint Jam as an intern. He now runs the Peppermint Jam record store “Recordhouse”. Working in the “Recordhouse” Torso provides most of the German dance scene with the latest vinyl and a remarkable knowledge of international artist, labels and distribution. In a very short space of time Torso has used this opportunity to build up a high reputation for himself and the “Recordhouse”.

With a successful residency in his home town Hannover, a string of international bookings in England, Poland, Croatia, Italy and Spain, hand picked festival sets from Time Warp/Germany to Space, Ibiza Peppermint Jam, Torso shows time and time again his great ability to keep the crowd moving. Torso’s sets contain a lot of groove and impact, at the same time providing a musical variety beyond comparison. Being raised on acid house, The Police and rock music from bands like The Pixies and The Dead Kennedy’s, Torso is well known for incorporating various musical genres into one set. “Of course the rock part of my set has shrunk dramatically over the years” Torso says. Yet a classy Jello Biafra track can still take him to the same heights as the latest Peppermint Jam release.

Tracks from Torso, such as the crisp “El Toro”, on Peppermint Jam, as well as various remixes for the likes of Robbie Craig, Spice and Dark Flower are proof that this man knows exactly how to keep your dance floor moving. Which is nothing but typical for Peppermint Jam DJs.
