Timo Mae first heard electronic music in 1997 when he was introduced to the classic Alternative compilation MTVs Amp, and the album Faithless - Reverence. After listening to these CDs and the music from Wip3out, a '97 PS1 game, he found that he absolutely loved electronic music, later pursuing it in 1999. '99 was vague but memorable for Timo as he was introduced to music by all time classic trance artists such as Paul Van Dyk and Zombie Nation; hearing for the first time the intense and energetic sounds of the trance scene.
In 2000 Timo discovered the love parade and a whole scene of great trance, electro, and techno music that he had been searching for. The scene took him by storm as from then on he was a true electronic music collector, grabbing all of the hottest Trance, Hard House, and Electro classics that hed been hearing all of the famous DJs play. At this point in time, and on to 2001 and 2002 the trance, hard house, and euro dance scene appealed greatly to Timo, listening to trance tunes like Miss Jane - Its A Find Day, Storm - Time To Burn, Iio - Rapture, and other classics by artists like PVD, Kaylab, Lexy & K-Paul, Westbam, Darude, Carl Cox, Binary Finary, DJ Tiesto, Members of Mayday, Mauro Picotto, and tons of others.
After the very memorable and huge anthemic trance days past by, Timo heard his first, more progressive style of trance with songs like Aalto - Rush. Still very heavily driven by anthemic music, Timo at this time started purchasing all sorts of classics on vinyl, along with the new great music that hed been listening to by Hybrid, Gabriel & Dresden, and various other more progressive artists. There were many great and huge inspirations and drifts in Timos music history, always evolving through genres and styles.
In 2004 Timo first heard the Global DJ broadcast with Markus Schulz, what would come to be one of the most revolutionary period of Timo's musical development. It was at this time when Timo first started producing professional electronic music; with great inspiration from the GDJB, and by artists like Ozgur Can, Nathan Fake, and Markus Schulz. Timo's first completed production was titled Beautiful in Q4 2004, which was later spun by Paul Van Dyk on his radio show Soundgarden in November '04. Timo spent all of 2005 battling computer issues and producing several very elaborate and spectacular productions, along with various remixes for artists such as Ozgur Can, and Joni Ljunqgvist. It was around this time that Timo had been studying several styles of music, and came to be able to produce nearly every style of electronic music possible, specializing in Tech-House, Techno, Progressive House, IDM, Trance, and Downtempo.
Now in 2006 Timo Mae is getting serious about becoming an industry professional, and is completing large amounts of stylish music that will debut in 2007. He is also as of 2006 hosting a brand new radio show on etn, and as of 2007 a show on overdrive underground featuring his great style of Detroit Techno, Techno, Electro, IDM, Minimal House, Minimal Trance, Tech-House, Electroclash, Progressive House, and Progressive Trance music.
