Since the day he was born, Southpaw has been around music on a regular basis. His mom was constantly playing all the great funk LP's from SOS band Gap band, Parliment, and Laid Back to to great R&B greats like Keith Sweat, Freddie Jackson, Luther Vandross, and Patti LaBelle. There's really too many to list on this page! Southpaw was introduced to Hip Hop at the young age of 6 when the legendary artists of his time brought this new form of music to the bandstands. Everyone from Run DMC to D Nice, Salt n' Pepa to JJ Fad got him under the Rap Wing. He even attempted to write his own lyrics at the age of 10 after watching his older brother, A.K.A. Supreme Threat of the local group H2O ( Hard 2 Oppose ). It was this time where thinge began to take off. Southpaw gained interest in the Electronic back in 1997 when this same brother passed on a CD titled "Global House Culture 1: mixed by DJ Pierre and Nightripper" " I still feel this is one of the best house CD's I've ever heard!" states Southpaw. He began to take an interest into Drum and Bass, picking up DJ Dara's "Full Circle". It was not until a little later that he came across Bad Boy Bill's "Bangin' the Box 4. This is when he knew where he wanted to take his music to...... BANGIN FUNKY HOUSE! Once given the oppertunity to touch the decks, thanks to his other brother ( locally known as DJ Swift ), he matched his 2 first pieces of vinyl. 2 months later, he played at his first public event and after only 6 months, he was playing at his first event, "Feel Those Vibes". Now known as one of Colorado's premier house DJ's, he is playing all over the state, Rockin the decks and gettin floors shakin' until the sun comes up!
