For Professor Yaz, life has always been all about music. In his early teens, he moved with his family to Fredericksburg, Virginia from his native New Jersey. The move sparked his career as a DJ. At the tender age of 14, he found his home not only in a new town, but behind a set of turntables, and he never stepped away from them.

The move became more than a personal milestone when Professor Yaz's work fell into the hands of Fredericksburg's DJ Sinestro. Highly impressed by the young DJ's natural gift, Sinestro was able to book Professor Yaz at one of his parties - with one catch. Sinestro didn't mention the gig until three days prior, leaving Professor Yaz no time to think about backing down. Calling himself Yazoo, the native word for "one who flows", Professor Yaz went for it. Feeling nervous and vulnerable, he stepped up to the turntables. Before the first beats echoed from the speakers, he took off his shoes. In the moments leading up to his performance, Professor Yaz had decided that he could control his nerves by spinning in his socks, like he had always done at home. He began spinning, keeping his focus solely on the music. The crowd went wild. He had played to perfection, and his first gig was a success.

Through years of playing at countless clubs and raves from New York to Florida, Professor Yaz held one goal: to play at Buzz, the biggest club on the east coast. Despite his already exceptional credentials including clubs like Outer Limits, Simon's, Flood, and Believe, Professor Yaz knew that playing at Buzz would put his name on the map and take him into the kinds of places where only the headliners belonged. His goal was accomplished, and his time at Buzz was a great success. Finally out in the spotlight, he officially adopted the name Professor Yaz.

In 2003, Professor Yaz produced the music for a series of commercials promoting Allure salons in Maryland, northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Along with image specialist Jim Jones, Professor Yaz used his natural gift to produce a flawless soundtrack for the ads.

In January 2005, Professor Yaz made yet another milestone move when he relocated to South Lake Tahoe, California. This change has gained him a whole new fanbase on the west coast, and sealed his notability as an entertainer on both sides of the country.

Professor Yaz has paid his dues. He has played in some of the most prestigious clubs on the east coast, and has produced some of the most distinct and revolutionary electronic music the industry has ever known. He rocked the east coast, and now with a new home, new fanbase, and fresh ideas, Professor Yaz is ready to do it all over again.
