PHANTAZUM

Coming from a solid music background, Vinyl Bitchie at the age of 8 entered the music scene with the musical talents of singing in the church choir, playing the piano and violin. Her father is heavily into music, and was also in a band as the bass guitar player for a number of years. Her mother plays guitar as well. Growing up, Vinyl and her siblings performed at various Baptist churches in north St Louis city until she was 14 years old. At age 15 Vinyl moved from pianos to dabbling with turntables. Mainly working with music styles of old school Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, and Breaks. Vinyl attended college where she picked up trades in the communication fields of broadcasting and advertising. While in school she worked in college radio under the name Dj Phantazum and ran two specialty shows "Friday Nite Friction" and "Melodic Voyage" with college buddy and business partner Dj Mikey Mac. Both shows serviced the electronica demographic. Vinyl would host guest djs along with brief interviews from them. Vinyl worked so hard for her shows that she would air live from events, traveled to other cities to interview top djs and music producers, and also brought djs from other cities to the station for exposure and to also have the best electronica show on the air. Both shows were very successful and her listeners are still intrigued by her hard work. While working the airwaves, Vinyl was sure that House was her electronic style of choice. She partnered up with music producer and dj Juxtapozishin to work on some original tracks of her own. Vinyl produced wonderful tracks like "Nature" and "Shake It Off", which were released in 2003. Currently Vinyl Bitchie and Juxtapozishin are one of the few excellent house producers in St Louis Missouri forming the group VB&J with their latest release "Rock City" July 2, 2006.
