Though his days as a heavy metal drummer have passed, OrtoKore’s talents for electrifying crowds with break-neck beats remain strong. This professional DJ brings the gritty side of Drum and Bass to the turntables with a trademark style of powerful mixing that turns the crowd into a maniacal whirlwind. The enthusiasm that radiates from this deranged individual while he is behind the decks, in combination with the seamless blends of several genres of electronic music that he creates, make OrtoKore a DJ who is truly without parallel within the diverse scene in Caracas. Considered to be one of the pillars of the electronic circuit in Caracas, this DJ/producer begins his career in 1998 when he joins with Bambu Castillos to form the group Akira Project. This potent duo introduces Hardcore and Gabber to the local scene. The overwhelmingly positive response to OrtoKore’s unique DJ and production styles is evidenced by his having shared the stage with high caliber international figures such as Rowland The Bastard (Bionic Orange), Lawrie Immersion (Stay Up Forever Collective), DDR (S.U.F. Collective), The Geezer (S.U.F. Collective, RAW, Infected), Parker (Dragon Disk), Chris Liberator (S.U.F. Collective, Infected, Minimum/Maximum), Julian Liberator, Aaron Liberator, E-Luv (FL,USA), Julie Delorme (Desert Storm). After the dissolution of Akira Project, OrtoKore begins a successful solo run as a DJ in a scene ruled by collectives. His unique style of mixing Hardcore, Hardtek, and Drum and Bass gains him bookings for massive events across Venezuela in cities like Maracaibo, Barquisimeto, and Merida. Early in 2000, OrtoKore teams up with Omar Fernandez to form Spiralheadz. By the end of the same year, the pair sign a production and distribution deal for 1500 records with the French label OG Records. This collaboration allows OrtoKore’s music to disseminate to Paris, Milan, Berlin, and New York. The Spiralheadz releases receive favorable reviews by music critics throughout the world. At the end of 2001, OrtoKore discontinues his work as a member of the Spiralheadz in order to dedicate himself completely to the turntables. In 2003, Ortokore decides to try his luck abroad and ends up in Santiago, Chile. Within only a few days of his arrival, he spins the first of what will be many sets in Supersalon alongside the pioneers of the national Drum and Bass scene, Fat Pablo and DJ Roach. It does not take long for OrtoKore to position himself among the best DJs in Santiago, receive numerous bookings for festivals and parties throughout the entire country, and ultimately become part of the history of the Chilean Drum and Bass scene. As a result of the strong reputation his DJ skills build for him, he is invited to represent Venezuela by spinning at the first Loveparade festival in Latin America, an event that brings about 150,000 people to the center of Santiago. On top of his contributions to the Chilean scene as a DJ, OrtoKore comes together with Ultramal (of Ultrafat SoundSystem) to form the collective UNABOMBAZ. Together they produce a series of original tracks that are played at events throughout the city and even abroad at parties in places such as Mendoza, Argentina. DJ Uter (Perlamania.com) plays a remix of Simon Bassline Smith and Drumsound’s ‘Ooh-Baby,’ the product of the collaboration of UNABOMBAZ and DJ Roach, in one of his sets. OrtoKore has left his mark on crowds at an array of events that include:
