DJ Octane (Barry Shannon) was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1979. He was raised in Los Angeles and then in 1992 to Orlando. Barry got a taste of Jungle and Classic House/Techno in the early-mid 90's in Orlando. In 1995 Barry returned to Spain to finish high school. Barry achieved his original music preferences as he traveled up and down the Western Mediterranean Coast listening to hard fast German Trance and Hardcorish House sounds called Makina in that region of Europe. He met along the way some French, Balearic and Catalonian DJ's who gave him positive influences on music, DJing and the different current Genres of music to date. He later returned to Florida at the end of 97, south of Orlando in the Miami area to establish himself as a DJ and Promoter with the knowledge he learned in Southern Europe. By the time 2000 hit, DJ Octane was becoming an established DJ with a unique way of DJing by building up the set, bringing into play more energy as the night goes on. Barry has discovered a few different DJ sets that he puts out depending where & when he plays but his heart will always be in the higher energy dancing music.

2 129-135 bpm-> Proggy Tribal/Tech-House

3 137 bpm-> Funky Electro Breaks.

Through the years in Florida, he Djed at prestigious Venues in South Beach, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, W. Palm Beach and Orlando like:

-(Orlando) Roxy & The Edge

-(WPB) OHM, Respectables, The Lounge, The Playground, Chill, Club 109 & Liquid.

-(FT. Lauderdale) Emerald City, Voodoo Lounge, Baja Beach Club, Lumonics, Cougars, resident @ In the Zone, Chili Pepper, 3299, (old) Club Q & (old) Atlantis.

-(Miami) (the old) *Space.

-(South Beach) Level (Now Mansion), Maze, (old) Liquids & Opium Gardens.

Octane has also played @ countless themed Outdoor Raves in the greater South Florida area.

Not to Promote the following DJ's but Barry has played in Florida with headliners and openers like Prophecy, Rob-E, DJ Storm, Johnny D., Robbie Riviera, RiotGear, Deep Duncan, Baby Anne, Jackal n' Hyde, Mike E. Dynamix, Icey, Huda Hudia, George Acosta, Confusion, Mike E, Ivanno Bellini etc.

In 2003 Barry decided to take his skills up north to the DC/Baltimore area where the scene & DJ % are smaller yet more passionate & where a DJ with his background can soar further than the DJ blanket demographics of South Florida. He currently is working on producing music tracks and has DJed in DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore in Venues like:

-(DC) Club Five, Home, Nation, Ozio, Dragonfly, Japone;

-(Baltimore) resident @ Spy Club, The Depot, Kobe's, Paradox, Kiss Cafe & Tsunami's in Annapolis.

Not to Promote the following DJ's but Barry has played in The DC/Baltimore area with headliners and openers like Jen Lasher, Infusion, Chicks on Speed, Matthew Hade (billboard), Geraldo Ramirez, DJ Sun, Tzeech, Terry Mullen & Leni K.

Barry was also a DJ & very much involved in The Baltimore Music Conference in October 2005. Barry's plans for the near future is to work on conquering Philadelphia & Richmond. Will you be there to feel his vibes? "Look out for him playing @ a Venue near you."
