Nehpets' creative approach to music has always kept him on the edge of what's next. DJ Deeon, the originator of ghetto house recalls that Nehpets never took to a particular influence: "Nehpets does ghetto, but he does it his own way."

Nehpets started making his mark on Chicago dance music as young as 13. Not a week after he first got on the ones-and-twos did he land a regular spot on a college radio station out of Chicago. At 14, he released his first track on the Dance Mania label: the quintessential ghetto house record, "Lay It Down."

"If they want it ghetto, I give it to 'em."

His grasp of all genres of music helps him easily craft his beats into a universal sound everyone can understand. Nehpets' records can only be described as "too raw, too cold, music that makes you want to go crazy.

He strives for the next sounds, for a listener's reaction to be simply: "What was he thinking?"

Nehpets' musical talents aren't restricted to just ghetto house music. He has releases on Dusttraxx (Muzicbation), and is starting his own label 7:10 Muzik (Muzic 4 Big Kidz). He takes on a fun approach to the more musical songs he produces.

"I don't like to compare myself to people, but if there is a group I think that best describes me, I would have to pick The Neptunes. They have a lot of fun with the music they make and that's intriguing to me."

To Nehpets, ghettotech or ghetto house isn't vulgar music. Ghetto is a sound, a feeling you get from getting down. Ghetto is the rawest element in your music whether it's a sound in the track, or the way the song is structured. 'Ghetto is an experience," says Nehpets. He joined up with GTI, JackStar, Project Housing, and started his own label DirtyChiTech to continue to put that feeling onto wax and consistently put out good music.
