MATT FUNK
Matthew Cutajar a.k.a. Matt Funk was born to a Maltese family on the 7th August 1983. It was clear from an early age that he was heading straight for a life in music. He soon realised his place was in the DJ booth even during his formative years in the late 90s while attending several clubs and parties. His passion grew to an obsession and he took a djing course at his friend Conrad Heal, who soon inducted him into the house fraternity. After a few months perfecting his mixing and technical skills he had his debut at a feast party. Matt Funk was an instant favourite, and soon after became a regular behind the decks at the top clubs and bars all over the Maltese islands such as Clique, Places, Axis, Brassmonkey,Styx, Poxx Bar, Miracles, Numero Uno, Caesars, Amazonia, Strings, Buskett Roadhouse, Gianpula. Local promoters also engaged him to play at the top events organised in Malta such as Tribu, Lovesexy, Hed Kandi, Helios, Get Funky, Kinky Malinky, Ruby & Friends, K-Man Experience, Booty Shake and Conflict, playing alongside major foreign djs namely Sneak, Erick Morillo, Azzido Da Bass, Todd Terry, DJ Falcon, Villneuve, Joy Kitikonti, Antoine Clamaran, Danny Flex, Dj Mason , Marc et Claude, Damion Conlon, Sasha, Narcotic Trust, Oliver Klien, James Zabiela and many others. Early in 2005, Matt Funks pumping energetic sets caught the attention of Steve Caesar and Iannis of Strictly House promotions. Today Matt Funk is a resident DJ at all their events including the top weekly nights held at Sugar Shake . Matt Funk also features at their highly requested one off Strictly House events. Over the years, Matt Funk has developed from a local club jock to a master in the art of working a crowd. He is in demand across the Maltese islands where he drops his sets of seismic beats spiced with funky/Electro house and soaring vocals that bring a dance floor to its knees. His performance behind the decks has to be experienced at the club to get a true sense of the magic that he delivers.
