MARK THORNTON

Born in Dortmund - the heart of the Ruhrgebiet - Mark Thornton started intensively to deal with music of all styles since 1979. As the keyboarder and manager of some bands like Lenaray & T:RM in the early 80ies, he easily got his practical live and stage experiences. Further more he wrote Texts and Musik for the different Bands.

In the early 90ies he moved from the Ruhrpott to the south of Germany, where he started some more band projects while being more and more fascinated by the electronic music scene and the djing itself. For him as a record collector turntable seem to be just for playing records, not for using as an instrument.

Within the move to Munich - to study art history and philosophy - also 2 turntable and a mixer found their place in the musical & creative life of Mark Thornton.

1994 was the year of his first own event series and club night ??potemkin?? Club. This successful underground event lasted for many years. 1997 he founded his own record store, booking agency & manufacturing service for sound carriers of all styles in the heart of Munich near the English garden. Since then Munich??s underground & club djs get their newest vinyl from all over the world & dj equipment too at the presswork shop.

After many gigs in clubs like electric-delicate and on big festivals like the last Loveparade in 2003 in Germany and abroad founded his own record label plastic-boogie records in cooperation with Orange Sound and 2 vinyl 12 Inch Vinyl have been released. Since 2004 he is working with a group of artists in his studio on his first release which will be released on his new and own label.

He also established - as the first foreign event manager ever - his Saturday event series binonic minimal tribal & techhouse clubbing at one of Germanys best techno clubs at nachtwerk club @ electric delicate before he finished the event series after nearly one successful year in favor of other projects like his own booking agency.

Since 2004 he is booked as resident dj in one of Europe??s biggest and well known fetish Club: the kitty cat club in Munich. He performs his own events on Europe??s biggest party area the Kultfabrik Munich where he is resident event manager of 2 Party Series : The Saturday night progressive STRONGBOW Clubtune Event with national and international guest djs and the regular Friday Free-Float Techhouse Clubbing Party with mostly regional underground djs at Goodstuff Club.

Within the years he collected over 5000 vinyl of tribal techhouse and progressive music of different styles & played his colorful driven and kicking, atmospheric techhouse-progressive sets with various top djs Europe wide - mentioned in the discography - and knows how to enthusiast the listeners with his interpretation of modern electronic music and club sound.
