Music has been a part of J's life since he was just 8 years old. As an actor and singer, J spent much of his spare time on the theatrical stage, appearing in several local shows. He grew up in the small town of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, USA, but left when he was 12 for Annapolis, Maryland. Only a year and a half later his family moved again, this time to Newark, Delaware, where he spent his high school years. During high school J excelled in his musical talents, but he was never satisfied. He continued to progress in music and it quickly became his true passion in life. After high school he made his way to Phoenix, Arizona, where the hot sun brings together many different cultures and styles of music. It was then that J discovered house music.

"I love anything with a beat," J used to say, well, he found it - house music to him was the missing link in his passion for music. After many career path changes, and several college courses without a degree, J realized that he may not be going in the right direction. It was at that point that he found that his passion was staring him right in the face, a DJ. He had watched many DJs at work, behind the decks laying down his favorite house and techno tracks. So it was only natural that within the past year he has learned and become very talented at the task himself.

"I guess I owe it to my brother," he says, "He bought me my first pair of turntables for my birthday last year. The Numark Battlepak. A great set, I still use it because I still don't have the money to buy new ones!"

Justin loves the sound of vinyl, to him CD's just don't bring the same fidelity and acoustic quality that records do. Unfortunately, vinyl are quickly going out of style, especially the rare songs, so J decided he'd settle for both. He got his first DJ job only three months after he started spinning, as a mobile DJ for Phoenix's top entertainment company. SKM Entertainment is well known nationwide, although based in Scottsdale, AZ, J moved from the DJ role to the tougher MC role within 6 months of joining the company.

"It's a privileged to work for a company like SKM. The value they have brought to my DJ career is astounding, in all aspects. Not only am I a DJ, but an event coordinator, music programmer, and announcer. That's not to mention the fact that I'm gaining skills with CD's and working dance floors, stuff that will stay with me for a lifetime."

Some of J's friends have already started coming to him to do their events, which makes J feel like a million bucks. But keeping with his roots, J will never be satisfied. "Next stop is the clubs; I can't wait to get started on a new journey. Then I want to make music, my ultimate passion."

J is excited to finally be doing something he truly loves. To this day he can't believe he gets paid for some of the events he does, because he has so much fun doing it. His energetic and animated personality is infectious, and behind the decks is no exception. And it's just the beginning; J's passion will only drive him to new heights in years to come.
