1981

The beginning

The year that ‘Disco Sounds’ ruled the world and somewhere in the south east of the Netherlands Joshua Walter was born. Surrounded by the record collection of his parents, he was musically inspired by international superstar such as: Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Madonna & Prince.

1999

The motivation

Dj’s such as: Ben Liebrand, Roger Sanchez and Dj Roog, showed him that ‘spinning records’ was a true art and Joshua Walter set out to master the craft.

After long hours of (re)mixing, editing and spinning the wheels of steel, he managed to do a guest appearance on a local radio show, in early 2001.

One thing led to another and Joshua Walter was asked to host his very own show. Under the name ‘JMaster’, he began the production of ‘DiscoTrain’.

2002

Engineerz of Soul

During that time, the plan arose to start a new collaboration, a joint effort to bring soul and passion together. And so, ‘Engineerz of Soul’ was set up. Together with partner in crime, Dave Verhaegh , Joshua Walter formed the funky formation ‘JMaster & Davylicious’. Together they hosted various nights at clubs such as: the MatriXX, Monza and Doornroosje. In the meantime, Joshua Walter got a chance to work on productions for Radio 538, Radio Veronica (SoulShow) & the MTV Mash Up CD.

the future

After residencies at MatriXX DJ café & Inferno, Joshua Walter decided to take it to a higher level. Moving away from the name ‘JMaster’ and adopting his ‘real’ name, he set his sights on Amsterdam, the capital of soulful music. His unique combination of groovy 70's, electric 80's, pumpin'90's and a touch of Soulful Dance quickly got noticed and he was offered a chance to prove himself in clubs such as: Now&Wow, Club More and Hotel Arena. His latest feat is his residency at Jimmy Woo, THE hottest place in Amsterdam.

And this is only the beginning!
