jjdnb started life as Jawid Jalala in Kabul, Afghanistan. Shortly after his birth, the communist invaded his home country and his family fled to neighboring country, Pakistan. From there, he and his family moved to the United States, where he currently lives.

He grew up watching MTV and listening to music from the early 80's. From there he got into heavy metal bands like Metalica, Slayer and Marylin Manson but soon let that genre go for a more interesting one, ganster rap.

"I found an N.W.A. tape somewhere and listened to it when i was in 6th grade," he laughs. "Man it was so raw, I had never heard anything like this and I really liked it." From that point, jjdnb listend to rap for many years until he finally decided that the genre was "played out". Not satisfied with the route rap/hip hop was taking, he stopped listening to new artist. This went on for a few years until he was introduced to electronic music.

"I had heard house music in clubs and was indifferent to it. Then i heard a mixed trance cd by Jason Dunn...trance i beleive it was called and i really started liking the trance genre. It made me feel good and i started listening to people like Christopher Lawrence and Paul Oakenfold."

jjdnb listened to as many trance cd's as he could get his hands on and started going more frequently to clubs. During his partying years he meet a friend that was a huge fan of Drum & Bass and started schooling him on it.

"He would burn me a bunch of cd's and make me listen to all the new tracks that were coming out and I like them but I didn't love them, you know what i'm saying? He told me some dj by the name of Grooverider was playing at Buzz and he was gonna take me to see him. I'm like ok, I'll listen to this Groovemaster guy but I'm just not that into Drum & Bass. He says with a smile on his face. "My friend starts yelling at me saying that Groovemaster would be cheesy, that why his name is Grooverider and not to forget it. Well I went and when I heard Grooverider, I was just stunned. The amount of energy in the place was amazing. The bass was so deep, it was vibrating through my body. When the beat would drop, people would just go crazy. It was a mad house. I was dancing around like a fool and couldnt stop myself. The next day i went to the stored and bought Grooveriders Mysteries of the Funk, which i still have by the way hahah."

Since then, he has been collecting records and spining in various places. He is continuing to work on his mixing and performances, trying to further his reputation as a solid dj in the Washington DC area. His mixes can be found all over the internet and he is currently looking for a label to sign with.
