On Thursdays, he went to the basement of Nighttown where he got acquainted with the funky technosound played there. Through friend and DJ Nick K he was introduced to DJ Michel de Hey.

With a group of friends Jay accompanied Michel de Hey through his weekend bookings and this way he got inspired to become a DJ too. He started organizing small parties together with a friend in order to be able to play as often as possible. One thing led to another, he was invited to play as a warm-up DJ at the Future Friday night in Nighttown, and later on he became a resident DJ for the Future Night.

Next to playing at homebase Nighttown Jay is also invite as a monthly resident DJ at On in Off Corso, Rotterdam. Jay is also invite doing gigs such as: Chemistry (Escape, Amsterdam), Patronaat (Haarlem), Club Risk (Winkel van Sinkel, Utrecht), Mazzo (Amsterdam), Club Vips (Rotterdam), party's like Silly Symphonies, Earth, Future of Sounds (Azotod, Utrecht) and big festivals like Dance Valley, Impulz (outdoors) and 4-Elementz, further he is to be found at cultural events such as Heineken Fast Forward Dance Parade in Rotterdam, Cityparade in Liegè (Belgium) and Loveparade in Berlin (Germany) also he has played in Spain (Flash Back, Salou and Avenue, Caëllia) and France (Beachmountain, Val Thorens).

Jay is now one of the residents at Michel de Hey's Future night and EC Record Label Night.

April this year Jay has mixed a cd for the Smirnoff residence concept.

Jay Samuel had his first producing experience in the recording studio with a friend about two years ago. Stef Vrolijk invited Jay to get in the studio with him. Stef is a progressive producer and at first, it was kind of difficult to mingle the two very different styles together.

Ultimately a nice track came out of it and this co-operation can be seen as a foretoken of many future co-productions.
