Jamie is a fresh and exciting prospect breaking his way into the current commercial house scene. He has over 15 years experience at the sharp end of the music industry starting off in college rock bands whilst he not only played lead guitar but managed, organised and promoted the various gigs they performed around the Warwickshire area as well as venturing south into the smokey capital of London all before the age of 18!
During that time Jamie attended the Guitar Institute in West London before falling into the more commercial world of trying to earn a professional living from his hobby. He did this by creating a double female led all singing and dancing chart band which toured all over mainland Europe playing almost every Town, City and British Forces base in England, Northern Ireland and South Wales.
?I was 19 when I realised that there was only one thing that I wanted to do with my life and that was to not have to get up before 11am!! The music industry was what I had been brought up with and the only thing I had ever been passionate about.?
After more than seven years of living out of a Van that was constantly breaking down, Jamie decided to venture into the now recently popular art form of Djing.
?I started off by spinning records along side our band at the numerous Army barracks we played at across the UK, Belgium and Holland and then solely DJing my first residency at a holiday camp in Kent which was hell! I didn?t last very long and soon moved to Blackpool, which changed my life for the better. I held a full time slot on the North Pier for four years and then moved into the nearby cities of Liverpool, Manchester and Preston holding various residencies for up to three years each at major city centre establishments, the majority of them being 1500 capacity venues.
Jamie had now spent all of his professional life in the entertainment industry but realised that there was only one type of music that he listened to for pleasure these days and that was the many genres under the broader title of ?House? music.
?I had always been into House music since the early 90s and regularly enjoyed visiting many of the illegal warehouse parties and all night clubs that used to be so common place around the Luton and London area that I was living in at the time.?
Jamie?s attitude is a refreshing change in the current climate of ?head down, bedroom? DJs?, probably because of all his live band experience he has a natural ease and comfort with playing in front of large audiences working them into a hedonistic frenzy! His guitar even makes the odd appearance in the clubs jamming along with the more usual sax and bongo players that frequent the current funky house scene.
?Because of the many big venues that I have played in for so long now, my DJ style is definitely a hands in the air anthem style. I do enjoy visiting the more intimate underground venues but when I play out I like to see people letting go and partying hard in front of me!?
Because of all Jamie?s previous production and midi programming experience from his time with the band, it could now also be put to good use editing tunes to give a personal stamp on them and also lead him back into creating music, which he hadn?t done since the hazy college band days.
Jamie now owns a full G5 Mac ProTools home studio where he creates and remixes original music and is sure to hold some thrilling prospects for the future.
