DJ Frooky originally appeared on the scene in Kansas City as DJ Nasty Nate in 2001. Inspired by the darker, harder side of dance music, he slowly moved his genre of choice from trance below 140bpm to UK Hard House, Hard Trance and NRG at 150+bpm. He started recording demo CDs in the spring of 2002 and was told repeatedly by promoters that Kansas City would never go for hard dance music... it's a House town! Never satisfied with "This Old House", Nate persevered and refused to kiss ass and play what promoters told him to. Eventually he was picked up by the Syde-Sho crew and began to earn some respect for his mixing skill and choice of unique tracks. Kids started gobbling up his demo CDs and begging for more. In Summer 2003, his notoriety had spread to the point that another Nasty Nate who had been around longer elsewhere in the country forced him to change his DJ name. He chose Frooky, a unique nickname branded on him in high school by his best friend, much to the dismay of his fans. Many kids didn't get it at first, but slowly accepted his new moniker.

Now, after playing only hard dance records for 3 years, Frooky has invested in a Final Scratch system and is currently exploring different genres to hopefully spread his name even further. His love of performing is almost insatiable. He also hopes to be producing and collaborating with other artists soon.
