ESTEBAN MORIENTES

It must have been 1996, that Esteban fell on the isle of Ibiza and hit off with one of the biggest, if not the biggest, romances of his life. The lady's name was dance music, and she had him hooked in a second. So the rocker became a dancer…

Throughout the years, he gathered knowledge and material in the music section, applying it once in a while at parties and at the pub his parents owned. In 1999 he hit his first residency at the student bar of his faculty, making an effort in cultivating the student crowd into dance music lovers. The crowd loved it, yet the venue was not meeting up to Mr. Morientes' standards. That way, in 2000, he played an evening at the Fantastic in Ghent, and after a few gigs, he got offered a residency.

In the mean while, as he and his best friend started to organize the Red Light District parties that year, the perfect medium for diffusion of the music they loved was found: breaking even parties. Every location they could find suited: strip bars, mansions, the beach, even the street they lived in became sometimes converted in a dance floor.

In 2002, Esteban had secured a nice apartment by the beach in Valencia, as he was staying there for a year as an exchange student. Quite soon he was dropping his vinyl on the decks of clubs such as Un Sur, Zenith, Warhol's, Le Club, etc. The private parties in this sun blessed city still turned out to be the most fulfilling spots, as it drew they drew a vastly international crowd, capable of turning an apartment into a wild club scene, and more… It was with great pleasure that Esteban provided the soundtrack for these devastating events.

Once back in Belgium, after fighting off a grey sky depression, he concentrated on his post graduate year in Brussels and playing various parties and bars in Ghent and Brussels. He kept offering his veins to Lady Vinyl, which resulted he spent almost more time in vinyl stores all around Belgium than in his own apartment.

The sound Mr Morientes provides is that of a connoisseur, mixing together jazz with house, italo with electro and disco with soul. But as he's evilly enjoying seeing people dancing, he always tries to keep the strict necessary commercial touch to get everybody on his fonktrain.
