Eric I cuE began Dj'ing as a Hip Hop turntablist type of Dj when he was 16. Trying to battle and scratch to no avail. The I.Q. Man decided to turn to the music he grew up on, House. At the time of his genre change progressive trance was a big thing so he started off with Hard House and Progressive Trance. L8er to find out that there was a whole genre of House he hadn't experienced yet. It was Underground house. Once he heard this at a "rave" in Chicago he decided to switch from the cheesy club shat to a Funky Underground House sound. This is when Eric first started to play out for people. You know the house party thing. Sometimes for a crowd of about 50 or so. This is how Eric discovered a harder much more penetrating style of music, Techno. So on to the next genre of music he went. Being a techno dj in a crowd full of house dj's produced it's ups and down's. Then Uk prog house made it's way into the foreground and Eric I cuE jumped right on the bandwagon. Soon he had a crew full of different Dj friends playing from DnB to House to Techno and it was time to hit the pubs and clubs. So along side his dj mates Sit N Spin Crew was started (the name comes from a dj by the name of Future Profit). After about a year or so of small bar venue's and seeing that Chicago wasn't really excepting the prog house thing Eric jumped back into his love for Techno, but this time the sound wasn't as hard. Eric I cuE started playing the music he had learned to love (techno) with the music he had grown up on (house). Out came Funky Techno. The crew was getting bigger venues and bringing out nation wide talent so along side Sit N Spin founder he spun his best night to date in the far north suburbs of Chi-town. Reese Urban played right before them and then they began their tag as "Techno Burrito" in front of 900 people they closed the night out strong. After that Eric took his not so timely break to get much better acquainted with the production end of music. Only taking 2 gigs over the next year (2003) Eric did exactly as he intended to, he learned as much about production as he could and slowly built a home studio. Now he's looking at his first record release here in 2006 and is playing various nights around the Mid-west. Sometimes with good friend and partner in "White Donkey Punch" DJ Drift. Since his break Eric has played various clubs and parties to date like Zentra(Chicago), Club Euro(Chicago) and In Your System. Still playing Funky Techno about 4 yrs strong his name is actually getting out there. So if you see the name Eric I cuE or his alter ego Eric James on it you got to check it out.
