Eric Hull, a.k.a. E-Sassin, is a native of Los Angeles with a far-reaching background in many different styles of music. E-Sassin began his musical journey in the late '70s as a drummer in progressive rock and jazz/fusion bands. After moving through the heavy metal scene of the '80s, E-Sassin was introduced to the electronic dance scene in 1989 through the techno/ rave culture. Once he started producing dance music, everything fell into place and he has since become one of the top DJ/ Producers of drum and bass in America.

In 1992 E-Sassin produced and self-released a techno album, which got the attention of Sunshine Records. They approached E-Sassin to work with the groups L.A. Rave and The Movement. For a year and a half E-Sassin toured with The Movement all over the world. It was during this time that he was first exposed to jungle, which had just broken away from the breakbeat hardcore scene. By 1996, E-Sassin had made the transition into producing only drum and bass tracks. Drum and bass music wasn't widely accepted in the States and very few domestic labels were releasing any of it, so E-Sassin started up Sound Sphere Recordings late in '96 to get his musical productions out to the masses. The first two releases received very positive feedback and quickly established a high level of credibility for the label and for E-Sassin's productions. Each subsequent release has continued to elevate Sound Sphere to new heights, which in turn has gained the label well earned respect from artists and DJs throughout America and the rest of the world. Many of Sound Sphere Recordings' releases can be found on high-profile compilations both nationally and internationally.

In late '97, E-Sassin was approached by Phunckateck Communications in San Francisco to be included as part of their elite force of Producers and DJs. UFO! and Abstract had heard E-Sassin's productions and felt that he was the top-notch type of material that they were looking for to build up the Phunckateck collective. After discussing it with the other members of the crew, the decision was made to ask E-Sassin to be a new addition to Phunckateck, which up until this point had not introduced any new members since its original inception early in 1996. He gladly accepted, and since then, Phunckateck has continued to grow, becoming one of the driving forces of drum and bass in America.

Currently, E-Sassin is hosting "The Dangerzone," a weekly drum and bass mixshow on the internet at www.grooveradio.com, which was named #1 in dance and electronic music by Arbitron and is in the top 10 overall for music streams on the internet. He is also producing and re-mixing tracks for Sound Sphere Recordings, as well as other labels. Recent works include re-mixes of Dieselboy's "Invid" and "The Descent" on Palm Pictures and Flux and Rinse's "Killa" due out on Compound. E-Sassin is also a featured artist on the much respected album "The World of Drum & Bass" on Formation Records, which showcases some of the best talent from around the world.
