DSTRO

Donald Sabelhaus...Dstro as we all know him, was born June 10th 1979 in Long Beach California. Just months after his birth Dstro moved to America's Finest City, San Diego CA. where he still proudly calls home today. In the early 90's the movies Beat Street and Breakin 1, 2 introduced Dstro to B-Boying (Breakdancing) which led to Many hours of locking himself in the garage with nothing but a tape deck, linoleum and a windbreaker bumpin the sounds of, The Egyptian Lover, Afrika Bambataa & Soul Sonic Force, Newcleus, Trinere, Bar-Kays, Debbie Deb and Twilight 22. Later after teaming up with good friend Cato and the Smurfrock / C-Force crew the journey began, Jumping from different parties in different cities to the local battles and the infamous B-Boy summit... the most intriguing part of hip hop soon became relevant...The Battle.

The battle canvas was later transformed from the ground to the walls of your local cities, freeways and the good ole transit system. Krylon, Phantoms, Softballs and Sakuras began to be the language at hand for Dstro. Taking an illicit art form as his new element education became his passion and getting Buffed was his adversary. Short lived after many encounters with the law and walking away with just numerous slaps on the wrist, the rattle can had to be retired.

2000 was the turning point for Dstro's Element Education. After observing his friends jam out day after day scratch after scratch he decided to give it a try. After his first week he was a Turntable addict who could be found camping out anywhere two 1200's were set up. His Sifu in the art of Turntablism was good friend Dj Pound. With the help of Pound and numerous DMC and Thud Rumble Video's Dstro began to absorb the art of manipulating records (Turntablism) and started to create a style with his own personal signature.

Until April 2001 Electronic music was always a genre Dstro never wished to explore. Being stereotypical and bias towards the pumping sounds of dance music was the norm for Dstro and his comrades. A massive music festival in Long Beach was soon to change Dstro's whole outlook on the Electronic Music Scene...Audiotistic. Never being to a massive gathering like it before Dstro was shocked to see this sanctuary of good vibes and Bangin Beats. Soon after it was a different party every week listening to all types of Dance music from Hard House, Trance, Techno and Drum N Bass.

Soon after the dance music sound was engraved in Dstro's head, a good friend of his Jo Jo Groovz moved backed to Cali and introduced him to mixing Breakbeats and Programming. After weeks of persuading, Dstro was able to borrow a set of 1200's from JoJo and the Madness began. Disappearing from society for almost a year Dstro began to master the craft of Beat matching, Programming, Seamless mixing and involving the turntablism elements in his mix. The quick aggressive style of mixing incorporated in Hip Hop along with Wicked Scratches and Beat Juggles is Dstro's Trademark behind the decks. Known for playing Heavy Big Rollin Bass Line Nu-Skool Breakz with a funky backdrop Dstro has blessed dance floors and radio airwaves with his signature stamp on the Breakbeat Scene.

The Airwaves were in for a surprise in 2003 when Dstro rocked a breakbeat set on "REWIRE" 98.9FM. At the time Rewire was the only primetime weekend Electronic mix show in San Diego / Mexico mainly playing house music. After numerous calls and feedback Tomas Serrano (IDeaL) Brought Dstro on board Rewire as a resident dj along side the likes of, IDeaL, JoJo Groovz, Ferny and Kid Krazzy.

Dstro has also opened for / or played with artist such as, The Autobots, J-Break, Hive, General Midi, Meat Katie, Jackal & Hyde, DJ Fixx, John Kelly Keith Makenzie, Burufunk, Shy FX, Simply Jeff, AK1200, DARA, DieselBoy and Hip Hop Artist, El Da Sensi, Souls Of Mischef, Grand Agent, Aceylone, Writers Block, OHNO, Visionaries, Inthevisualz and many more.
