Donny Young has become one of Los Angeles' most beloved and revered DJs. Since his move from his home state of Texas, he has grown and helped develop the true underground trance scene in Los Angeles. His energy and intensity come from a desire to "make the world stop, listen, and dance!"

In 1998, with a little luck, Donny came to Los Angeles with nothing but a dream to play his music in front of 1,000 dance fans. At Utopia 3 in 1999 brought to us by the now-defunct Tri-Pac Productions Co. in San Bernardino, CA, he did just that. In front of 3000 die-hard dance heads, he played a German Trance set that sent the party into overdrive. From that set, his career began to take shape. Immediately after his set, a barrage of promoters asked for his presence at various events throughout Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. His next event with Tri-Pac was Massive Love. This would be one of the biggest nights of his career thus far. He was already headlining the Local Love Lounge. Minutes before the event's doors opened, one of the promoters personally asked Donny to play the second set of the night in the main room. He gladly accepted. After a blistering techno set from the nights first DJ-the night then belonged to him. From his initial record, the sold-out crowd of over 2,500 packed into the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA was mesmerized by his ability to whip the crowd of early partygoers into a frenzy. The REAL party had just begun. Later that night, he spun his headlining set in the Local Love Lounge. When word got out that Donny Young was in the Lounge-the main room began clearing out. Amazingly, hundreds were packed in a sweaty upstairs bathroom where the Local Love Lounge was setup. His first record by DJ Sakin & Friends could be heard pulsing through the system. Donny's only regret was the lack of dance room. "It's hot as shit in here! But I love you all!" He screamed at the top of lungs during the breakdown of the anthem that he coined for the Los Angeles scene-DJ Sakin & Friends-For the Love of a Princess. But for the 100s of fans that witnessed this incredible set, no one seemed to care about the heat. Just after his set, the crowd chanted his name. Gracefully. The next DJ gave him one more record. He chose BBE's classic and the song that changed his musical career-Seven Days and One Week. During the breakdown, you could hear a pin drop. Words simply cannot describe the emotion and energy that Donny Young can receive and give to the dance floor. For the remainder of 1999, we was booked at countless events and held residencies at Cloud-E on Thursday nights and Smile Sundays at Club Blue both in Hollywood,CA.

On February 27th, 2000 Donny's life changed forever. On that day, his son James Robert was born. Since that time, Donny has done nothing but dedicate both his time and money to his son. Now that his little one has been with us for some time, Donny is able to get back into the scene that he loves and get back to the one thing that motivates him-the music. Since his hiatus from the decks, he's used his influence to help grow the underground here in Los Angeles. Currently, he's working on an After Hours for the now unsettling rave scene. Unhappy with the current state of affairs and the ever-present drug environment of today's rave scene, he's vowed to push the music and not the drugs. Starting with a handful of big name DJs and a handpicked group of young new talent-Epic Dawn was born.
