Dom first heard the sound of House music when he was relatively young in 1992. He did his dance music apprenticeship for 3 years around the club scene, visiting most of the great clubs and parties in and around Wales, picking up DJ'ing tips and tricks from the masters such as CARL COX, DANNY RAMPLING, SASHA, PAUL OAKENFOLD and the like. In 1995, and one trip to Lloyds bank later, he secured a loan to buy himself a pair of cheap belt-drive turntables and a mixer. One month later he played his first gig to a packed farmyard barn in Kidwelly - 300 people in attendance to watch the birth of a rising star.
A few years, a pair of Technics, and numerous house parties later, Dom sent a couple of tapes for entry into PETE TONG'S ESSENTIAL SELECTION TALENT 2000 COMPETITION. One tape comprising a funky house mix, and the other a dark tech-step drum n' bass mix. Three weeks later much to his surprise, it was announced live on Radio One that he had won the competition out of 6000 entrants.
Dom mixed his 30-minute hot-mix live on PETE TONG'S show to 3 million listeners UK-wide the following Friday night. The response was huge, with RADIO ONE'S phone lines jammed for the rest of the night asking who this new boy was. The following weekend Dom was invited to play at the Escape club in Cardiff alongside legendary DJ's PAUL OAKENFOLD & GROOVERIDER - a testament to his growing ability.
More and more plays followed in clubs around Wales. Dom earned a residency in the ESCAPE CLUB Cardiff and played regularly at 'UP FOR IT' in Tenby among other clubs.
In 1999 Dom was invited to enter the ROLAND UK HOUSE DJ MIXING CHAMPIONSHIPS in competition with other excellent Welsh DJ's such as Miss Chif, Leighton Brookfield, David Jay and Ricky C. The competition was very stiff, but once again he came out on top to win and take first prize of a Roland DJ2000 mixer worth £900. A few weeks later he was booked to play the main room in the ESCAPE CLUB, Swansea alongside DANNY RAMPLING who was the guest in room 2. A few clubbers present that night stated afterwards that poor Danny was playing to an empty room 2 - it seems everyone in the club was rammed into the main room to see Dom creating dancefloor mayhem!
In January 2000, Dom was asked to play in the now legendary club ENTER THE DRAGON @ V2K, Cardiff. Initially playing Deep & Funky House in the Tunnel Bar, his talent was spotted in the club's early stages, and main room plays soon ensued. Ask any of the ETD faithful and they will tell you that Dom could take 2 records and create magical mayhem. In fact it was quite a common sight to see the promoters Andy & Jimpy banging away on the dance podium while Dom was playing.
2001 was a highly successful year seeing a residency at 5TH AVENUE (Swansea), a residency at BREATHE (Swansea) regular plays at the EVOLUTION EXPERIENCE (Milford Haven) a stint at ROAR (Cardiff), and more plays under the ESCAPE umbrella in Cardiff.
In his time, Dom has appeared on the same bill as such greats as JOHN '00' FLEMING, DANNY RAMPLING, PAUL OAKENFOLD, DAVE PEARCE, SONIQUE, BIG AL, GRAHAM GOLD, LISA PIN-UP, JUDGE JULES, FERRY CORSTEN, FARLEY 'JACKMASTER' FUNK, BRANDON BLOCK to name but a few.
Looking to the future, along with bookings at EVOLUTION EXPERIENCE, BIONIC, BREATHE, AQUABOOGIE, COOL HOUSE among others, Dom is busy beavering away in the studio (who isn't these days?). Look out for future releases coming very soon from this very talented young man.
