DEXTA MITCHELL The proud Essex boy turned DJ has a love for the club scene like no other. The hugely popular energy served up by Dexta as a DJ is just a fragment of what Dexta gets up to. "Production is a huge element for me right now and it's something I'm enjoying very much" says Dexta after his remix of the "Steve Angello & Laidback Luke" track "Be" debuted on Radio 1's Essential Selection and spent many weeks on Kiss 100's weekend shows FNK & Floorfiillers.
Dexta started DJing aged just 13 at regular under 18 events for the Hollywood Nightclub chain (Romford, Ipswich & Southend). During the early nineties the chain was synonymous through clubland and dominated the South Easts clubbing culture not to mention it's big sister Club UK in Wandsworth. This gave Dexta the chance to work with or witness first hand the likes of David Morales, Armand van Helden, Eric Morillo and many more, all of which were top of the game as far as DJing and Production were concerned.
When Dexta turned 18 it was then offered to him to work at Hollywoods on a regular basis in the Annex (the trendy room upstairs) and special events, Bank Holidays, Xmas, NYE & alike. This eventually resulted in a guest appearance at Club UK which to quote was "Phenomenal". During this time Dexta gained a two week residency in Marmarous, Turkey at the very busy and fun-lovin' 'Cheers Bar'.
Educated in Southend-on-Sea in Media Dexta worked up a behind the scenes knowledge of both Radio & Television. Eventually starting up the collage radio station 'Radio Equinox' both DJ and Director of the station.
Whilst in education Dexta DJ'd at many venues in and around Essex, Suffolk & London testing new waters and continuing to find his own ground in clubland. Dexta found where he wanted to be in the form of Club Resident at the famous ToTs 2000 in Southend. This was a dream come true for Dexta at a club he could finally sink his teeth into. During this time he continued to work regular boat parties up and down the Thames which eventually earned him a credibility in House music hard to come by.
Whilst at ToTs he had a weekly residency at its sister club in Chelmsford 'Dukes Genesis' every Monday which is still going strong today "it's a night full of awesome people just out for a good night, this crowd is as upfront as they are party animals. Over the years they've kept me on my toes always pushing different genres and new music"
Throughout all this Dexta Mitchell has created his own recoding studio 'Manic Destination Studios' which records all his mixed productions and remix projects. He also created his own label 'full of it productions' which alongside south promotions creates the final products. This is all apart of the ever expanding mixed CD collections which compile many different genres and styles, see the albums on the home page and make sure you check out the discography.
