Moving to Southern California in 1994 from Vancouver, Canada. Derek Dupries began the journey of his life.

The life of a DJ.

When first coming to America, Derek settled down south in Orange County, where he first started throwing some fun weekly events at the local tavern with a couple of friends also interested in electronic dance music. The weekly was called Insomnia and lasted about three weeks. After a few more events and trying to find a niche in Orange County it was apparent that Los Angeles was calling.

After moving to LA, Derek met fellow dj/producer Eli Star at his Thursday night weekly called Digital. It was at LOUIS XIV where Derek began honing his skills on the decks. Playing at friends houses and logging countless hours at his own house, playing the odd party until December 1999. This is when Eli Star and Green Galactic formed to throw a weekly club called "Bliss" at the hottest new venue in LA. Along side Eli, Derek was a resident DJ and performed with such superstars as: Mark Lewis, Garth, Frankie Bones, David Christopher (RITM), Magic Juan Atkins, Eddie Amador, Richard "Humpty" Vission, and Steve Loria. The club was a total success and garnered press such as: "featured" club in the May 2000 issue of DJ Times Magazine. With mentions in the LA Times and "pick of the week" in the LA Weekly.

Later in 2000 Derek played at some of the top clubs and venues in LA, such as The Viper Room, Magic Wednesday, Electric Rhythm, Speed of Sound, and The Blue.

Year 2000 also produced Derek's first mixed CD titled "Future". It is an excellent blend of quality house music for the home or office. Look for his second mixed CD coming this spring 2001. A NU-NRG mix with some NU-Skool breaks titled "Return Of The Wheelman"
