Music has always been one of the driving forces behind Defunkt's life. He began his DJ career with house parties and after-hours club appearances throughout the Midwest. Early on he discovered the hard UK sounds of artists such as Karim, Captain Tinrib, OD404, & RR Fierce. Regarded by some to be one of the originators of the UK hard style in the Midwest, he has stayed true to his roots continuing to assault dance floors across the nation with his signature blend of extra hard, extra dark NRG, trance, and techno. He has a natural talent for creating driving mixes while exciting the crowd with his antics. His on-stage energy and persona are a sight to behold. Not content to merely DJ, Defunkt's obsession lies with making his audience not only enjoy their experience, but to feel the music as much as he does. Coming from a decade of classical music instruction he is no stranger to evoking emotions through music. His love for the music is obvious through his energy. Having been involved with music and music theory for over a decade has given him valuable experience and allowed his creative energy to grow at a frightening speed. While classically trained with the violin, he has successfully made the transition to electronic instrumentation and composition. Defunkt has established himself as one of the Midwest's premier purveyors of the banging Hard Dance sound. This growing reputation has lead to an affiliation with Banginbeats.net, a group of like-minded DJs and producers from around the world dedicated to bringing Hard Dance to North America, where he currently works as an entertainment journalist interviewing some of the world's top musical talent. Now residing in Detroit Michigan, he has allied himself with the BeatTechnicians.com dance music community strengthening his commitment to the music which he is so passionate about. Having been booked all over the Midwest, from Kansas City to Toronto, Defunkt still never passes up spinning a party, be it a 50 person house party or a 3,000 person festival. He has headlined with many respected names in the electronic music scene such as Mark EG, Paul Anthony, D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Darude, and many others.
