DA WISEGUY

Da Wiseguy...aka Jon Pierce knew some sort of future would be involved with music. Many moons ago, whilst his friends were spending their pocket money on Tangle Twisters and Monster Munch, he was down the local record shops spending his few quid on vinyl. So being the mate with all the music, he was the one doing all the house party tapes and new car/old car/car journey tapes and do me a tape tapes cut together on 2 tape decks, it seemed a likely choice to dj for real when a pair of second hand decks came his way. Well over a decade down the line, things are still on a roll.

The winds of destiny can blow in many directions. In Da Wiseguys case they blew far, and often. Born in Toronto, grew up in Florida, teens and early adult-hood cutting his teeth in London - where he gained his dj ability in many a bedroom before breaking out and into the ears of the public. This, most famously was working for the Mean Fiddler Group for 3 years at many of their venues across the city. Residencies and regular sets at several bars and clubs like The Complex in Islington and Subterannia in Ladbroke Grove, where he warmed up for the likes of Bobby and Steve and Carl Cox, and hosting the Saturday night sessions for nearly a year at The Cube Bar in Swiss Cottage where Kiss FM fired up on Fridays.

Winds of change blew him back to his roots in Ireland about 5 years ago, and the good times have not stopped rolling. Since introducing himself to the scene by a simple e-mail on one of Irelands club scene internet communities, it has been a non stop ride. "Ive met so many cool people and done so many things here I never thought I would, from a really simple email!". A bevy of replies flooded in, namely getting the ball rolling with a Power FM guest mix for 3 hours and soon after made the move over to Jazz FM where he stayed for a year. Massive changes in the radio industry influenced many a move, and he jumped ship to Nova. "Jazz FM was great because it was only myself and fellow Londoner Mike Black who was doing the house vibe amongst the jazz, funk, hip-hop heads and the like, but Nova was brilliant because we were all brothers from the same family!". Da Wiseguy presented his illicit grooves show for nearly 2 years, and hosted Defecteds In The House mixes each week from the likes of Sandy Rivera, Martin Solveig, Dimitri From Paris and Copyright to name but a few. Then fate brought him back to Power, where 3 years previous, he had his first mix on Irish radio. "Funny how things work out sometimes, but they generally work out how they are meant to!".

Hes played at the Pod and the Redbox where he warmed up for the Plump DJs, whipped things up alongside the Soul Candy crew, supported Jupiter Ace on his debut in Dublin and kept feet (albeit muddy ones) moving long into the morning at the cult Midnight Picnic raves at Electric Picnic. "Theres plenty in store in 2007," he chirps, "but I love what Im doing right now - love music, love life!"
