Born in 68, Brooklyn, New York, David Clayton Birchard Jr, was raised through out the United States by his mother, a through and through Brooklyn girl, and his father, an Iowa native and a newly returned marine from the Vietnam war. Finally settling in Willmar, Minnesota in 1974, he would harass the local radio station DJ's to stop talking over the songs so he could record the music to make seamless mixed tapes of his favorite music. By the time he was in junior high, he discovered 45's and worked a paper route to purchase 9" vinyl records at the local Pamida store, to make his seamless mixed tapes.

David finished school, married his best "girl-friend" and attended St. Cloud State University and Brown Institute, earning him 4 years of education and a Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Advertising and Design. After having his two sons and always searching for his destiny, his marriage would not survive after coming out in 1999. David decided to move to the Twin Cities and search for what exactly it was he was looking for.

After making it as a creative art director at several ad agencies, publishers and design firms, he met many people that helped him with his coming out process. While at the Saloon, the main gay bar in Minneapolis, he was told that the D.J. would like to see him. "The who?" David asked. Being so new to the club scene, David wasn't sure who D.J. was and wondered why he wanted to see him. The stranger led him to the DJ booth, where DJ Jon Brown said to David, "Of all the people down there on that dance floor, YOU get what I'm doing up here in this DJ Booth. You should look into becoming a DJ."

This was a turning point in David's life, he came out, found his beat and the journey of DJ David B began.

In the year 2000, David started going to the club faithfully and attending after hours, where DJ Jon Brown, Jon Herseth, Danny Shaffer and Joel Dickenson (Thee- Werkin-Bitches) showed him the ropes. While learning beat matching, song selection and working the mixer, David collaborated with others to bring in celebrity DJs and performers to the Twin Cities, while also using his art background to design promotional items for the events.

In 2003 David landed his first gig at the Starlite Lounge. From there he's Dj'd for several corporate events (Target Corp, Chipotle and Eveda) and nightclubs ( Spin, Bar Fly, Bolt Underground and Saloon) throughout the city. Then, from the place it all began, the Saloon called on him to take on the residency Saturday night DJ gig!

DJ David B has EARNED his audience. Every Saturday at least a thousand fans come through the door, giving DJ David B nominations for "The Twin Cities Nightclubs DJ of The Year" two years in a row, and ranking #5 on the DJ List, the World's Largest DJ Directory, for Minneapolis.

Having the experience, talent and true creativity as a graphic artist, David and his partner, artist Cory Weissman, launched a new LBGT publication "My Scene City." Being one of only two lgbt publications in Minnesota, My Scene City is a welcoming entity in the Twin Cities SCENE, with a purpose to serve and give back to the community.

Always giving his best and delivering a solid set each and every time he spins, DJ David B is well on his way. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to present the one and the only DJ DAVID B!
