DAVE MOLINA

Since starting his DJ career in 2003, Dave Molina has worked quickly to establish his role as a leading figure in the current rise of electronic dance music in San Antonio. His work with fellow DJ James Packer raised the popularity of trance music in San Antonio and Austin with their signature Pacific Trance-isions compilations coupled with residencies at Club Antro (SA), Eternal Nightclub (Austin), and H2O Meta-Lounge (SA) in 2005. Highlights of 2005 for the duo included invitations to play alongside Nu-NRG, Judge Jules, and Christopher Lawrence on top of guest appearances at many large locally-promoted events. Despite making his reputation locally mixing epic and techno-influenced trance tracks, Dave began incorporating progressive house and minimal techno elements into his sets in 2006 as a direct reflection of his guest appearances at Suede Lounge (SA) and Sky (Austin) and his recent influences from Texas DJs Lance Cashion, Dirk Westphal, Matthias, Anthony Berdecio, Sasha Braverman, and Jake Cavazos. Dave's recent style was featured on Proton Radio as a guest on Lance Cashion's "The Sound" in late April and his set averaged over 1000 downloads a month since its initial broadcast. Learning to play well at a lower tempo allowed him to expand his musical tastes and also gave him the flexibility to not only play well as a headlining DJ, but to play an appropriate opening set as well. 2006 became Dave's breakout year, as he was chosen to play alongside The Crystal Method, Hernan Cattaneo, Gabriel & Dresden, Tiesto, Kenneth Thomas, and twice with Ferry Corsten, his biggest influence. Dave's current projects include remixes and compilation discs for his Unit Circle project with DJs Bruce Gibbons and Kyzer, and his Groove Exposure project with Jake Cavazos and Anthony Berdecio.
