About Dave from Dallas

David Beard AKA Dave from Dallas has been spinning since 1998 when he started doing local parties in the underground Dallas house scene. He quickly built his reputation by word of mouth as one of the "Sex Party DJs", like the infamous parties thrown at the Spy Club. With backing from Deep Dish, Sharam would introduce him as "Dave from Dallas", giving birth to his name.

In the Dallas after-hours party scene, he truly developed his gift to turn a late night crowd into constant bodies of motion on the dance floor with hard hitting drum beats and mixes of anything from Cevin Fisher's "You got me burning up" to Danny Tenaglia's "Elements". After mind-blowing long sets at after-hours parties at Warehouse, Rapture and The Brick, he then became a resident at Spy Club, Lime Bar, and Seven. It was in Dallas that he created his progressive/tribal house sounds and started producing songs that led him to be flown into Miami to play at Liquid and Salvation. He then moved to Miami in 2002 to become a resident DJ at club MAZE (playing alongside Ralph Falcon of MURK), The Room, and of course his favorite places to spin, the hottest underground afterhours clubs.

He has opened for world renown DJ's/acts such as Peter Rauhofer*69, Robbie Rivera, DJ Vibe, John Creamer, Stephen K, The Scumfrog, Rodger Sanchez, Low End Specialists and Peace Division. His sets have been radiocasted all over the world to countries such as Guatemala, Brazil, and London.

After the release of "Come to me baby" (YO! Records) and PQM's "You are Sleeping" Dave from Dallas/Redeye remix (Yoshitoshi records), David is now becoming more known for his distinctive sound and ability to blend tribal drums with hypnotic vocals and manipulated sounds that take a listener into a deep rhythmic trance-like state that haunts you in your sleep. With influences such as Danny Tenaglia, Robbie Rivera, and DJ Oscar G, and comparisons being made to Deep Dish and Steve Lawler, it is no wonder that residentadvisor.net wrote after the release of "You are sleeping" that "creative southern talent" like Dave from Dallas proves that "D:Fuse isn't the only one who needs to be recognized from Texas!"

MUSIC REVIEWS:

PQM's You are Sleeping remix

From Residentadvisor - Dave From Dallas + DJ Redeye vocal pass

If deep and dark is your flavor, then this remix by Dave from Dallas and Redeye will certainly get your blood pumping. Quirky sounds and dirty beats this what this is about as the minimal bassline drone away while your driven along a very dark road. As the track nears the climatic breakdown, the vocal gets the loop treatment and then a shattering alarm bell rings out, scary I know, as the bass kills anyone who is light hearted. Warning: should be taken seriously.

From Progressive-sounds

Dave From Dallas' artistry was previously showcased via the March 2003 release of his creation "Come To Me Baby" as the premiere track on Yoshitoshi's recent off-shoot label YO! that spotlights big room anthemic stompers.

The remix is a bit darker and hypnotic in nature. Just like he did in "Come To Me Baby," Dave takes a digitalized looped riff of a few notes and latches it aside the percussion so it rides along with it the whole way and becomes a focal point of the remix.

Progressive-Sounds online - "Big Beats-thick bass lines-full on tricked out, overtly manipulated vocals which will wake up bodies on the dance floor to move in all directions"
