Born to the hit single 'I Feel Love' by Donna Summer, in 1974 on a hot August summer's evening in Hackney East London, set the scene for this talented musician and artist. Relocating from London at an early age, to the leafy suburbs of surrey & influenced by the emotional, glitzy, glamorous era that was the 1980's, Darren Courtney formed many post punk rock bands as a songwriter & guitarist along side his manager Jimmy Pursey of legendary 70's punk band Sham 69.

Whilst developing his talent for drawing and design at art college, whilst touring & recording in his self created punk rock band 'Comasola', a break finally came when Boy George's manager Tony Gordon, took interest recognising a potential hit song & put Comasola into the recording studio. But with pressures building within the band, the band finally split in 1997.

Ever determined Darren-C took a break from music & went back to art college to get a degree in graphic design. Discovering a new pool of inspiration with some new art & music scensters found him going on a fateful trip to Ibiza in 1998. Then assuming like others that Ibiza was just another med holiday destination, he was awakened to the other side of the island on the dance floor of the world famous 24hr super club 'Space' where he first experienced Carl Cox and Jim masters who were playing the Leftfield soundtrack "Phat Planet" from the Guinness advert. In that very moment Darren-C was hooked on Techno.

He gained his Degree in Graphic Design in 2000, & started working as a freelance designer for many top London night clubs & DJ's such as designing Carl Cox & Jim Masters website for there Thursday night London techno club "Base", & artwork for Mr.C's club "The End", & as head Graphic Designer for one of London's longest running clubs 'Carwash', but it was in the summer 2001 whilst talking to friend & Ibiza space resident DJ Jonathan Ulysses, that Darren C finally got himself some decks & started DJ'ing.

In early 2003 Darren C created his first Thursday night residency called 'Deep'. As time went on the music became more Electro based, the name changed to 'Dirty' and it was at the end of this period that Darren C started to gain bookings with his connections throughout Europe including; Ibiza, Belgium, Iceland & Germany where he has played clubs including the infamous German after hour club Le C22, m1 Bosch & Zapata.

Now, Darren-C is now more famously known as the DJ, promoter and founder of the very successful monthly East London Sunday club 'Ultraplay' held at the @Cafe 1001 in Brick Lane, and it's afterparty 'Wet Yourself' at Aquarium. Ultraplay is one of the most talked about underground Sunday clubs in London attracting an incredible line up of special international guest DJ's whom play alongside residents Darren-C & Jackie Misfit. Some of these have included; Dollz at play (Superfreq), Marcashken (Leftroom), Jack Shidt (Blue Lagoon Reykjavik), Giles Smith (Secretsundaze), Vladislav Rashkov (Invader Bulgaria), Eric Electric (Jagoo), Tom Humljan (Play / Stuttgart), Ander Kilzer ( LLR.SA), Heidi (Phonica), Kerry (Lady K), Alex Patterson (The Orb), Merka (Fat! Records) plus many more very talented underground DJs and producers.

For 2007, Darren-C has been very much in demand and busy DJiing throughout Europe in places such as Reykjavik Iceland at Partyzone with Bookashade and Jack Schidt, with additional dates in Scandinavia, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Spain. He is also heavily involved in the production of the new Ultraplay Video Podcasts series due for release January 2008 which have been documenting the Ultraplay party and all it's guest DJ's since the begining.

With his influences from the past, & his mind in the future, Darren-C has crafted a unique sound and style that could only be had by someone who has experienced so much musically. He is now producing his fist tracks for 2008 with interest and anticipation from many top record labes. Darren-C's sound is atmospheric, futuristic, twisted, bass driven, hedonistic, dirty, and always... cutting edge.
