Damian Saint has been at the forefront of dance music since â99. The influences in his art come mainly from Erick Morrillo, Felix da Housecat and Steve Lawler who contributed to his unique style of Techno and Electronic House.
Damian is known for his adaptability, blending a wide variety of music genres with great success. His career started in the summer of â99 after a visit to the famous white island of Ibiza. Discovering the hypnotic grooves of Dance music after a live performance from Judge Jules, his newfound passion was too strong to ignore. His first foray into the world of dj-ing was to win a DJ competition at the legendary Ministry of Sound London while on a sound engineering course by SAE. There was only one way to go.
Damian's talent was immediately recognized by a local dj from The Waterfront nightclub in Blackpool - Damian's hometown. Initially Damian started as a light jockey / warm up dj, but this aspiring young dj very quickly worked his way up in what was then the largest and most popular club in the area. Within the space of no less than a year - still at the age of 19 - he was already the main resident dj on weekends. Fusing his own blend of pumping house and Trance, Damian received the prime time spots on Fridays and Saturdays for crowds of 2,000 people. Whilst he was there he got the chance to play alongside many guests including Farley Jackmaster Funk, the Euphoria Live dj's Adam White and Simon Webdale and DJ Fubar. He gradually developed his own style that set him apart from other main stream artists, earning him a spot among five pioneers to broaden the dance scene of Asia. He was to become one of the resident DJ's at the brand new superclub...... Ministry of Sound in Bangkok, Thailand.
Damian was resident 5 times a week playin all kinds of House and Trance. He often opened for world class dj's, such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and Judge Jules. Within half a year Damian was crowned by Thailandâs Pop magazine as the No.1 DJ in Thailand and was shortly thereafter interviewed by both Channel V and MTV music TV stations. It did not take long until the buzz spread across Asia and Damian was off on a Tour of India for the world famous Bacardi Blast parties. He blew away the crowds of up to 5,000 people in Calcutta, Mumbai, Dehli and Bangalor.
The Syndicate Superclub, Blackpool
After a year's residency in Bangkok, Damian was invited back to familiar territory, Blackpool as resident DJ alongside Dj Fubar for the grand opening of UK's largest nightclub, The Syndicate. Damian played to over 10,000 clubbers a week again working with the biggest and best dj's around on a weekly basis like Eddie Halliwell, Ferry Corsten, Pete Tong, Steve Mac, Fergie and many more. After another full year back in Blackpool. It was time to move onwards and upwards. Finally the call he had been waiting for......
Ministry of Sound Taipei , Taiwan After two years of planning, Damian finally opened Ministry of Sound Taipei alongside fellow resident DJ Buff Wise to a crowd of over 6,000 while over 2,000 people were still cueing to get in to the club!! Working this time alongside the likes of MYNC Project, Crystal Method, Danny Howells, Sander Klienenberg , Nic Fanciulli , Dave Seaman and loads more helping Damian's style evolve even further. Ministry of Sound Taipei has paved the way to more gigs around Asia, including more gigs and residencies in Bangkok, Seoul Korea and upcoming dates in Hong Kong and Tokyo. He has recently started to write and produce his own tracks alongside studio partner Shawn M, so watch this space for future releases... He is currently based in Asia and has already clearly made a huge impact on the dance scene there.
Damian reads his audience and manages to create crowds where other deejays have destroyed and showed incompetence at understanding their listeners. He develops and adjusts to his surroundings. He shows his burning passion for what he does and it strikes those of us that stand and look at him in awe. This deejay is someone you will be forced to watch, now and in the future.
