D-LIGHT

The trance enthusiast convinces with driving, tribal sound and impressive DJ sets of pure trance with progressive and tech house influences! A journey through melodic, vocal, progressive, hard and tech trance.

Dennis Wendt grew up in a musical environment and spent most of his afternoons taking piano lessons in elementary school as a child. Although he's had some breaks in between, he's still composing today. What was once classical and slowly on the piano surely turned into pop-music on a keyboard. After improvising and playing songs from the radio, he started developing his own ideas, which one can still recognize in some of his productions today. In 1998 he started to record his creations on a computer and began to arrange live played music parts with sequences from his software. In High School he met Patrick Wiechmann, today also known as *The Waverider*, who also shared the same goals as Dennis; music, fun and being creative.

From that moment on, they started producing their ideas, buying a lot of new hard and software. They introduced their productions to a hand full of Dj's to try and get some feedback. After the first year of producing together, they got the idea to play their music live and started to organize. At the end of the year 2000 they found themselves standing on stage in front of over 4000 people with trembling knees doing their "own provisional live act", including go-go dancers and female singers. This gave Dennis just the right kick to continue on working independently after college. A few months later Patrick and Dennis got a record-deal with a small label in Hamburg and they released their first single *Triple Seven Beats - Sequence of your mind* (DJ D-Light & The Waverider).

A few years before, during the time of producing, D-Light started his career as a Dj due to the fact that he wanted to present his own tracks to the crowds. He received his first bookings in Hamburg through other DJs from his favorite clubs and colleagues from that scene and was spinning the vinyl's for friends and in clubs a few years just local. In the summer of 2001 he got his first booking outside of Germany and flew to Ibiza to play at the Ibiza Club Convention. Back in Germany he continued producing. He is responsible for a lot of productions and projects like DJ Digress, Global Bass Players, Ria Chacard and many more. D-Light also produced a lot of remixes for projects like Kyau vs. Albert, Trance Angel, 2 Unlimited and Noemi. He likes to produce different projects and styles, crossing from downbeat and chillout to vocal and hard trance.

Beside his work as producer he planed the establishment of an own label which officially starts in summer 2003 with the release *Ria Chacard - Living Colours*, a production of Patrick and Dennis. Together with Marc Breder (met on Ibiza), who joined the two-year planning and the establishment of the label, he is managing now successfully the own label eXcellent Records Ltd., based in Birmingham, UK and eXcellent Records (Germany) Ltd. with headoffice in Hamburg. Because of the intensive work with the label, Dennis had to neglect his work as Dj for a long time but in summer 2004 he came right back to the decks with a fresh new DJ-Mix on the double-CD compilation *eXcellent@beach2004*. A few months later he released his single *D-Light pres. Merly Dee - Backflash* on his second label Deepdive Records. This track was sold out after three weeks.

Between this release and his next single he mixed a brand new compilation series called Club Affairs together with Svenson, Eve Carey and Marc Blend on eXcellent Records. These two CDs came in vinyl-look (in a virtual dj-set package) and receives great feedback even because of the tracklisting which includes a lot of brand new and unreleased tracks from all over the world!

The next single "Like I Do" with Georg Bissen and Victoria Gross from New York incl. John O'Callaghan Remix were played by a lot of DJ's around the globe and got great reviews and chart positions. Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Mike Shiver and Signum are just a few of them!
