Well...what can we say about this guy, Chuck Cogan then?
He was born in 1975 in Varberg, Sweden...a small town of about 50.000 people, on the west-cost of SWEDEN. The interest in music started early when he got his first record as a christmas present in 1981....it had the "Chicken Dance" on it, which was a huge hit for him as he danced his ass of in the basement of his family's house at the age of six. Later he noticed a track on the same record by a group called Depeche Mode, the track was "Just Cant get Enough". And that was the beggining of a long lasting relation to Depeche Mode. He started buying records, mostly Depeche Mode and other great Synth based groups, but by the end of the 80´s he was getting a bit bored with the fact that most synth music was kind of depressing.
In 1989, Chuck discovered an LP that would chage his life, "LIVEANDIRECT" recorded live in the Uk & Ibiza by Adamski. He said to himself, "now this is what I think electronic music should sound like... danceable and happy" and from that moment on he started buying more and more records of this new sound called "House". By the end of 92 he attended his first Rave Party in Gothenburg (still in sweden) and was blown away by how great it was. Back in those days there was at least one big rave everyweek in Gothenburg, so he was going back & forth from Varberg to Gothenburg dancing his ass off once again. In 93 Chuck Cogan made the decision to start DJing.
He Started of by playing Ambient in the ChillOut rooms as "Dr. Silence" and had by the end of '93 basically one gig a week. But sadly the scene kind of died out in 95 and so he started to play more House at own parties and a small Clubs. He played a few times a year here and there, and then started to produce his own tracks in 97 with a Yamaha CS1X, Yamaha TQ5 and a Casio RZ-1 drum machine he bought in early 97.
Chuck Made a bunch of tracks from 97-99 which didn't make it out of his bedroom setup, but then in december 99 he bought himself a Yamaha A3000 sampler and things started to happen. After only making 4 tracks he got noticed by the UK label "Soul Brother Music" where he released his first 12:inch in late April 2000, Chuck Cogan "The Disco Strangler EP". His second 12:inch came just a moth later, May 2000, Chuck Cogan "Keep On (Holdin´On)". Thy both got a big support from people like Graeme Park, Pete Heller, Smokin Jo, Alan Thompson and StoneBridge. His third 12:inch came in late september on the swedish label TRUNKFUNK, Chuck Cogan - Summer Breeze EP, this ep contained the track "Weekness Of Addiction" which whent straigt in at nr5 on The Swedish Prime Cuts list. And so now he is releasing his first 12:inch on Soul Phusion Records, his fourth overall, "Chuck Cogan presents Voodoo." His first but most definetly not his last release on Soul Phusion Records.
