Chad’s musical journey has led him across the US from the dancefloor to the studio to the desert and back again. His interests are as varied as his background.

After earning a BA in theory and composition from Hobart in 2000, Chad moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film music. After working on independent movies for two years, he found work at the very successful ad music firm Spank. While working at Spank he worked on several winning campaigns for clients like Nike, Apple, and BMW as both composer and assistant producer. Spank also became the platform for later music collaborations with composer Damien Heartwell and singer/songwriter Jennifer Paige. After Chad remixed Jennifer’s hit ‘Crush’, the trio went on to write 3 tracks together over the next year, including the single ‘100 Ways’.

Also while at Spank, Chad formed a relationship with engineer and techno DJ/producer, Luis Rosario. This relationship was the basis for Phantom Fury Records, intended initially as an outlet for creative work and DJ booking. Under the Phantom Fury banner, Chad and Luis went on to promote successful nights in Los Angeles and Chicago and also represent at the 2005 Miami Winter Music Conference, Detroit Music Festival, Burning Man, and the San Francisco Love Parade. Chad and Luis tagged a techno/breaks set for the Chicago-based ‘Pure Future’ float, organized by successful DJ/promoter James Lauer. The float featured international talent including Christian Cambas as well as the massively talented Habersham and Numinous. The Love Parade culminated a very exciting year for Phantom Fury and launched several opportunities for both Chad and Luis.

Chad moved to Chicago in 2004 to pursue his DJing and electronic music production more seriously. Still working for Spank in a freelance capacity and as an ‘official in-house DJ’ in 2005 Chad played the Chicago Creative Club Awards with Spank composer and Smashing Pumpkin’s drummer Matt Walker. While in Chicago, Chad formed a creative relationship with Steve Ford Music’s award winning composer Joel Corelitz. Joel and Chad exchanged remix projects, with Joel giving ‘100 Ways’ a trippy downtempo treatment, and Chad giving Joel’s pop hit ‘Get With You’ a club appeal. It certainly won’t be long before Joel lands a major record deal. It also didn’t take long for Chad to meet his fiancée Nicole Curtiss, who shares his passion and enthusiasm for music and the underground sound.

In 2005-2006 Chad worked with long-time Chicago breaks DJ/promoters Tolgar and Local Hero (now known as Base 10 Breaks) on several projects, including a successful night at Lava Lounge which hosted hefty UK talent such as Smithmonger and 30hz. Also while in Chicago, Chad played and promoted events at legendary underground loft 660 Lake, as well as teamed up with Loftsman and Catalyst Recording (Terry Mullan’s label) artist Kevin Ford to start breaks monthlies at Betty’s Blue Star and Underground Lounge.

After a 2 year stay, Chad is heading back to the West Coast to integrate his experience in advertising and electronic music. For Chad, a career in music is all about finding different creative outlets. 2006 is a year in transition where he hopes to find the right avenue for his talent and interests.
