Catalyst is a DJ/Producer that has spawned from many different musical backgrounds and experiences. He was born in Detroit in 1984, and was introduced to classical music at the early age of five. Learning woodwinds such as clarinet and sax from his father, who played professionally through his college years, he became ahead of the game when it came to music.

At the age of six, tragedy struck home, and he lost his mother to cancer. Stricken with depression, and nobody around, music was the outlet for releasing what he felt, and what he was too young to understand. From that point on, music was a part of who he was, and is today.

At the age of eleven, he moved to Orange County with his family. It was a time for change, and to start over. A bit of a culture shock, coming from the Frozen North, to the sunny beaches of Southern California; but those changes were gladly accepted. Music continued with him as he went through school. By the age of 14 he was being invited around the world playing with symphonies and orchestras through UCI, a renowned local university. But as high school became more demanding, and problems at home continued to become worse, music started to fade from who he was. More or less, this became the darker point of his life.

During this time though, he was introduced to electronic music of many different sorts. Intrigued by it, he began looking into how is was made, and how it was performed, and it's history as a whole. From there he began producing House and Trance, but as time went by, the need for something a little darker came into play. After he was done with school, and was able to venture into the scene a bit deeper, he came on something that he never heard. When he was first exposed to Drum & Bass, he saw something he had never witnessed before, and felt something new all together. The barrage of intricate drum sequences, and the grinding bass, something synthetic, yet so primal. It caught his eye, and perhaps rekindled something dead within.

Today he lives minutes away from the beach. Spends his free time surfing and snowboarding. Not to mention producing, and DJing. As busy as he is with work, like everyone else out there, his main focus is on production at the moment. Once some more material is together, he'll be around most of Southern Cal doing what he does best.
