For the past eight years Cass has been DJing across almost every corner of the globe taking in exotic locations as far reaching as Australia (where in the mid 90's he held a residency at Sydney's Hothouse club), Mexico, Europe and America with his own blend of progressive breaks and tech house.
Although Cass' name may not immediately trigger recognition on the DJ front, it's his work as producer, remixer and label manager that have seen him emerge as one of the scene's most talented and respected players.
In the two years that Cass worked at Flying Rhino, he was instrumental in breaking the labels ties with the Goa trance sound and helped reinvented the label into one of the most talked about progressive, deeper trance labels, offering a forum for quality music which won the support and respect of both the press and DJ's. As a recording artist on Flying Rhino under the monickers Cass Vs Slide with Pete Martin and Corellian with Grant Excession Collins, Cass was also Flying Rhino's best selling artist.
The critics praised the releases - Corellian's Fathoms had 7 Magazine screaming outstanding tune while Muzik thought it ahead of it's time, and DJ's Anthony Pappa and John Digweed snapped it up for inclusion on their recent mix albums. Muzik delivered a buy it at all costs ultimatum for Cass & Slide's Perception track and it was signed to Additive after Sasha clinched it up for his Ibiza Global Underground release and Lee Burridge for his Metropolis mix album. Cass' most recent vinyl excursion Emotional Surfer on Choo Choo is a simple, direct and beautiful tune which will no doubt continue his impact as a recording artist.
As producer and remixer Cass has also completed remixes for Peter Lazonby on Hooj, Taylor for Fluid and Sector 7 (Bonzai), all to be released over the forthcoming months.
With his recording career firmly on route, Cass left Flying Rhino early this year to fully concentrate on his DJing. As the newest recruit to the DJ Therapy stable, it was his talent, drive and commitment that compelled them into offering him a complete management deal. With only a year of studio experience and the results already commanding the respect of his peers, his DJ career looks set to be on Fire in 2000.
