BORIS BERTRAND

Boris Bertrand a.k.a Clone Francoise started in the early 80's as a broadcast DJ on FM Brussel (the best independent radio station in Belgium at the time). He later appeared at many bars and clubs, as well as private and public events. He held a residency with DJ P2 at the local cult punk bar, the DNA, in Brussels in the 80's. He also created soundtracks for catwalks and fine-art gallery exhibition. He left for Antwerp and later for Spain on a Acid House-New Beat-Electronica and Disco Jazz-Funk trip, promoting the most eclectic and stylistically innovative sounds.

When back in Antwerp after a long absence, he was requested by Michel Dewindt to play in Cafe d' Anvers, but refused because he found it too hyped a venue and preferred to keep his residency exclusively at La Luna were he could play a broader range of music! His most enjoyed residency ever was at De Kaaiman club in Antwerp (in his original form, but not were it has moved now in location and attitude), where he could really go eclectic and free'n'style, but still filled and rocked the dance floor.

He has been spinning black vinyl cakes mainly, sometimes spicing the mix with his analogue synth or with his own cuts and dub plates. He has given DJ sets at many different venue such as MUKHA, La Luna, Le Cafe Moderne, Zazou, De Kaaiman (Antwerp), Le Mirano Continental (Brussels), La Kashba, El Kitsch, Speka, Attica, Planta Baja (Madrid), Club 13 (Barcelona), La Fabrique, Underworld, Club IOI (Paris), Blue Note, etc...

He has created music under moniker such as Saru Ryujin, Pop Eye, Le Iatromante, Clone Francoise, and Rusty Bee, among others. With French DJ and producer Aluminium Junk (F.L. productions) he became an active member of the now defunct Antwerp chill-core record label 'Resonance', which was detected in the early 90's by Mix Master Morris, Sean Booth, Rob Brown, Brian Gee, Grant Wilson-Claridge and some guys at Fat Cat in London, UK.
