It began for Beardo in the mid-eighties, when Hip-Hop and Electro first began to get airtime on Mike Allen's Capital show. He was hooked. Then the Rave scene broke with hectic weekends spent following convoys and dancing 'til dawn.

He dabbled with DJ'ing at the time, playing house parties and small events.

Beardo's first direct involvement with the club scene came with Decompression, a Hertfordshire based Techno club during the mid-to late 90s, where he got involved on the security side of things (he's an avid martial artist) and designing and running live video and computer graphics sequences in the chill-out rooms (he's a graphic designer by trade).

When Decompression finally disbanded he joined Phat Lace Lloyd (now better know as Skool of Thought) and Kid Ballistics in creating Portable Deluxe (the promotion company behind the legendary Breakbeat Carnage nights).

He has played alongside such artists as Dreadzone, The Freestylers, Krafty Kuts, Skool of Thought, and the Drunken Allstars and the list of artists who've played on the nights he's promoted is enormous.

Beardo plays everything from Breakbeat and D&B to House and Techno when in a club environment or a wonderfully eclectic selection of more laidback and funky tunes when playing outside of clubs.

He is currently a resident at The Monday Club and Sundae Smoothie and is a member of the Unwise Monkeys (the 6 deck party rocking crew made up of Hansi, Rob Focuz, Beardo, Max Thief, Vinyl Ritchie and monkeynuts.mc)
