Anton was first exposed to the San Francisco/Oakland rave scene back in early 1999. Among his first contacts, were the infamous F-8 party's. Seduced by a new and strange culture, Anton hung about the scene for as long as his attention-span would allow. Having carefully sorted out his short list of favorite bay-area DJ's, it was not too long after that he became infatuated with the concept. Anton played his first record under the instruction of world-class DJ DNA and, despite how awful the challenge sounded, he never looked back.
It was only a short while before Anton quickly became tired of the repetitive and trite music scene and was driven to hear something fresh. He scoured all corners for new and innovative sounds, and that unintentionally became his hook. After a nice run from his first mix-tape, an all-house compilation entitled "Mixtape V2.0," which was a smashing favorite at house-parties and among the crowd of generally nice and constructive people, it was all starting.
Anton became quickly tired of the mix, and by the time he had gotten through promoting it himself, the sound was mainstream and tired. Anton stood unimpressed with the schmooze-driven DJ-underground, and decided to focus on compiling mixes that _he_ liked. His next work, "Tribalscience" was a far-cry from the first, having a much more industrial face, pounding out all different styles of one of his many new loves… Techno. "Tribalscience was more of an organic-process than anything else," stated Anton. It was around this time he realized he had found something that he harbored a passion for: vigilantly constructing personal works of art. Anton was at this point fed up with seeing nothing out of tireless self-promotion, and no longer worried all that much about playing out. Anton's supervening mixes all followed the same pattern; a different sound and presentation. He has since released compilations of all different tones –most of which feature self-produced intros. His versatile sound dips into almost every genre, including: All forms of Breaks & Techno, Electro, 80's (yes, EIGHTIES), Deep House, Trance, IDM and Bastard Pop. Some of his current favorites and all-time inspirations are: Hybrid, ArkusP, Slobodan, Osymyso, Björk, Junkie XL, and Sven Väth. Anton claims that at any given time, he's got at least 5 works-in-progress on the shelf.
Anton Styles is completely self-promoted with no affiliations. In other words, no limitations. It's the music that he loves most, and he never intends to stop listening and creating. As long as a monotonous mainstream-sound exists, Anton will be more than happy to mail you a free CD.
