ANGELO DE DIOS

Alias/Collaboration

• NICADRAUS

"House Music is the universal language of dance music," A quote from Angelo de Dios or Nicadraus (his moniker as a producer and remixer) who started DJing at the age of 17 years in 1990. He began his experience in the mobile business named Eitozy, playing different dance tunes from house, techno, R&B and Hip Hop. He also studied and researched on sound equipment and DJ gear. In 1992, Angelo was hired by a group called Forsc Ink., a sound systems & lights company and DJ services. From 1992 to 1994 he played in different venues around Metro Manila for Forsc Ink., school parties, house parties, dance events and many more. In the last quarter of 1994, he transferred to another mobile group, KRS, latter called K-1. He had more gigs this time than he ever did before and was also promoted as head DJ of K-1 in 1995. During these years, Angelo was also busy taking up Aerospace Engineering.

He graduated from aviation school in 1996, and in 1998, it became difficult for him to decide if he had to continue DJing or let go and pursue a professional career in the corporate world. Soon after his decision, he gave it a try to work in different fields. He landed on day-time jobs and handled different companies in their family businesses for two years. Unfortunately, he did not enjoy what he was doing. So in 2000, he went back to what he really loved doing, his passion in mixing music.

In the same year, he began to learn new things which also involved in music, such as sound production, sound systems design and tuning, DMX lights installation and programming, musical scoring, remixing and producing. He also specialized in DJ gear and equipments.

In April of 2001, Angelo and his elder brothers put up Po Na Na; A club/bar that made a history in the local clubbing scene, with people standing and waiting in the 100 meters line outside during weekends just to get in and experience Po Na Na's clubbing. The club guested the best and biggest named DJs in the country as well. Unfortunately, the club lived for only a year.

Also in 2001, he co-formed a DJ group/organization called "Mixology DJs" (there are now more than twenty {20} professional DJ/producer/remixer members).

From 2002 to 2004, he was a resident DJ at the now defunct, Sibil Bar, Libis and was also a resident at Zeno Lifestyle Bar in 2002. Zeno is a lounge bar located inside the showroom of a BMW car dealership. He became a resident at Elements Bar with his fellow Pitchworks DJs in 2004. Also in that year, he began working on his own tracks and mixed CDs (Nicadraus' Bare and Naked 1.0, Bare and Naked 2.1, Deep Tempo 1, Deep Tempo Too, Deep Tempo Three, House Grooves 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 and Deep Disco Essentials) which he eventually gives away to his close friends, promoters, club owners and event organizers as his promotional material. His affiliations with Mixology, Pitchworks and PMX Audio has helped him to a better career.

In 2006, he produced his first original track - "DJs Unite". A track that became an instant hit and was immediately played all over the country and in some parts of the world. It featured 134 DJs on the track and was beautifully voiced by Ms. Rina Marquez. In 2007, he produced "Nellasgroove" and in early 2008, he worked on a remix of Rasmus Faber's track. Rasmus gave his permission for the remix and hopefully, the track will be included on the 2008 remixes album of Rasmus Faber.

Aside from Po Na Na, Sibil-Libis, Zeno, and Elements residencies, in 2004-2005, he also became a semi-regular resident at Tabby's Bar-Subic, Bora Bar-The Fort and Tiananmen Bar-Ortigas.

At present, Angelo does gigs around the major clubs and bars in the Metro (Embassy Cuisine, Absinth, Mezze, Alchemy, Mezza Bacolod, Bourbon Ilo-ilo, etc.), different spots and islands in the country. Genres such as Deep House, Soulful House, Latin House, Percussive House, Funky House, Disco House, Beach House, Jazzy House, Filtered House, and French House are his expertise. He plays and mixes these genres the best way. Angelo's sets are mixed flawlessly which he mastered. His transitions from one genre to another are unnoticeable. "Mixing house music has many different ways. But the best is to know how to mix it right." He says. His influences in playing and specializing on these genres are the house music specialists and legends such as, Miguel Migs, Ian Pooley, Kaskade, Andy Caldwell, Full Intention, Hardsoul, Hott 22, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Knee Deep, Soul Avengerz, M.O.D., Christian Alvarez, Kolai Krew, Mambana, Julius Papp, Jay J, Ian Carey, Rasmus Faber, Blue Six, and Masters At Work. His greatest inspirations are his 3 kids and DJ girlfriend, Allen Hernandez, which he taught all the techniques he learned for almost 20 years.

"Everyday is a learning process for every DJ. A true DJ can only call himself a real DJ when he or she can play his/her sets without flaws. Practice is still the best to keep your skills on top. There are countless ways and techniques to mix two tracks alone. So the learning never stops." he explains. "No matter how good you are, do not ever think that you are the best. Always keep in mind that there's someone out there who is better. Take it as a challenge." Nicadraus adds.
