ANDY DANIELL

Andy Daniell has achieved at the age of 21 what most aspiring DJ's can only dream of ' to become a resident for one of the most respected house labels in the world, Defected Records. Making the transition from work experience placement at Defected to label resident within 6 weeks, it has been a rollercoaster ride for this fresh-faced DJ/producer.

Originally from Southend, home to a vibrant and creative youth culture, Andy was impressed in his teens by the vibrant club scene and started to play in local clubs such as the notorious Funk U. He was quickly recognised by the promoters as being a cut above the rest and the bookings soon poured in. Sets at Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Gello @ Colchester University and Element @ Rouge were to follow, building Andy's profile and allowing him to further develop his own style.

After hooking up with Defected, Andy was given the chance to be their Ibiza resident for the 2004 season, a chance he jumped at. During the 3 month season Andy played to 1,500 people every Friday at El Divino, sharing the bill with such artists as Junior Jack & Kid Crème, Martin Solveig, Dimitri from Paris, Hardsoul, Copyright and Sandy Rivera, with which he was soon to build a successful working relationship.

Whilst in Ibiza Andy also played sets at Base Bar and Bora Bora, one of which was captured on film for an exclusive Defected DVD. He also mixed the Defected Eivissa sampler CD, 10,000 of which were distributed throughout Ibiza during the 2004 season. November 2004 saw the release of 'In The Groove' on the UK's Running Records. Co-produced by Paul 'Cosmic' Shiret and including a Ty Holden remix, 'In The Groove' received support from Joey Negro, Bobby & Steve, Paul 'Trouble' Anderson, and Dimitri from Paris amongst others. Additionally, 'In The Groove' received plays on the Dreem Teem's Soulful Sessions show on Radio 1 as well as on the Slammin' Boys' Galaxy Network. 2004 ended in triumph when Andy was nominated in 'Mixmag' as one of Ibiza's best breakthrough DJ's.

2005 has seen a natural continuation in Andy's success and development both as a DJ and producer. Teaming up with Sandy Rivera, the pair's Back 2 Black mix of Rivera and Robert Owen's 'Just Won't Do' has enjoyed success around the globe, being released on Italy's Paprika and France's Full Force Session, in addition to its original release on Rivera's own Blackwiz imprint. Similarly, the pair's Back 2 Black mix of Rivera and Owen's 'I Am' appeared on Defected's Most Rated Miami release.

Andy has the ability to play both amazing warm up sets as well as peak-time rock outs. His style varies from deep and soulful though to Latin and beat driven, sometimes touching on electronic. It's an anything-goes style that has seen Andy receive applause from around the globe. His skills have also been extended to the airwaves, with Andy now presenting the Defected show on Ministry of Sound radio.
