ALEX DONALD

Alex's DJing tastes lean towards breakbeat and electro. She has played at many venues in Dublin and London, including Hogan's (Dublin) at their New Year's Eve party 2004, "Kill All Hippies" at Scala in London, for "Train" at Market Place and also at Train's Notting Hill Carnival 2005 event, as well as smaller bar gigs in Soho and Islington. She has also played a set at Dublin's "Ladyfest" Festival 2004 where she performed as one half of "The Blonde Leading The Blonde" (with Mo Kelly) on the coveted Saturday night slot after the legendary Andrea Parker and Mira Calix.

In addition Alex was on the roster for the Shejay "Ladies First" Summer Tour 2005 and has received press in DJ magazine (Sept 2005) as a result of her involvement with Shejay.

Alex Donald has been around and involved with music since she was a child. She was practically raised on tour as her father is the legendary Irish jazz saxophonist Keith Donald who was in seminal band Moving Hearts. She did her first recording session as a vocalist with renowned Irish musician and Pogues member Terry Woods when she was 13.

Since then she has gigged with numerous bands all over Ireland, in venues as diverse as Slane Castle, The Clarence Hotel, Solas and the Front Lounge. She has also done many recording sessions, both for bands and for commercial jingles.

Alex formed "en" in 1999 with DJ/producer Adam Barry and guitarist/producer Mark Murphy. In 2000 their song "Adventures of a Tragic Man" was featured on the first Synergia compilation released by Frisco Records. Scott McNaughton of Underdog Records then released the track as the first single on the Underdog label. The band launched the single in Dublin venue No. 4 Dame Lane and were profiled in Irish rock bible, Hot Press.

Alex moved to London from Dublin in January 2005 to concentrate on DJing and to form a band, which would be in her own words "a cross between Blondie, Goldfrapp and Veruca Salt". Blondfrapp anyone?
