AARON SCHUMM

Being born and raised in Chicago allowed house music to seep into Aaron's veins. The home of house music allowed for an overflow of great music and DJ's all over the city. He always had an interest in spinning but never picked up his own decks. Occasionally, Aaron would mess around on a friend's tables, but he never had any records of my own. Friends encouraged him to get his own tables. They said it was a calling, but Aaron thought they just wanted him to stop bugging to spin on their tables. In any case, about 5 years ago, he scraped up enough money to grab some of his own turntables. Since then, Aaron has never looked back. At first, it was more of a hobby, simply playing out in the bedroom, as all DJ's start. But, after doing a few favors for friends at parties, he was addicted to playing for a crowd.

After moving to NYC in 2002, Aaron has been fortunate enough to keep music as a mainstay in his life. He's had the opportunity to spin all over the place, from huge events such as the Grand Opening of Mission, to laid-back venues such as Laila. Aaron has held down multiple residencies throughout the city, along with currently DJ'ing events under the project names: "Red Pepper Sessions", "Electrolab", and "Broken Home". Recently, one of his mixes, "Melodic Groove", was featured by Eric Visa on Live365.com. Also, the e-zine, Slurry Magazine featured Aaron in their music section of the winter addition.

As well as DJ'ing, Aaron has begun to shift his focus towards the production end a bit and hope to continue down that avenue. LOLEX Productions, a New York based label with a Chicago House sound has recently approached me with interest of pressing his first EP, "Where's That Beep". It looks to be released later this year.

Aaron is also part of Stompy.com, a well know West Coast production company looking to expand the funky house scene to the East Coast. Along with one of his DJ/Production partners, Johnny Fingers, the two recently launched their own record label, Red Flavored Records. The first release will be out early in 2005. You can check out streaming mix demos and original tracks on the his websites.
